The Ability of Jesus Christ

… this man,
because he continueth ever,
hath an unchangeable priesthood.

Wherefore he is able also
to save them to the uttermost
that come unto God by him,
seeing he ever liveth
to make intercession for them.

Hebrews 7:23,24

Now unto him that is able
to do exceeding abundantly
above all that we ask or think,
according to the power that worketh in us,

Unto him be glory
in the church by Christ Jesus
throughout all ages,
world without end.
Amen.

Ephesians 3:20,21

Now unto him that is able
to keep you from falling,
and to present you faultless
before the presence of his glory
with exceeding joy,

To the only wise God our Savior,
be glory and majesty,
dominion and power,
both now and ever.
Amen.

Jude 1:24,25

And I know, O Lord, that Thou hast all power and
can do whatsoever Thou wilt for the benefit of man…

Behold, O Lord, Thou canst do this;
We know that Thou art able to show forth great power
which looks small unto the understanding of men.”

Ether 1:66,67

Yea, and how is it that ye have forgotten that the Lord
is able to do all things according to His will
for the children of men, if it so be
that they exercise faith in Him?

Wherefore, let us be faithful in Him.

The Advocacy of Jesus Christ

Hearken, O ye people of my church,
to whom the kingdom has been given,
Hearken ye, and give ear to him
who laid the foundation of the earth,
who made the heavens and all the hosts thereof,
and by whom all things were made
which live and move and have a being.

And again I say,
Hearken unto my voice,
lest death shall overtake you;
In an hour when ye think not,
the summer shall be past,
and the harvest ended,
and your souls not saved.

Listen to him
who is the Advocate with the Father,
who is pleading your cause before him,
saying,

Father,
Behold the sufferings and death of him who did no sin,
in whom thou wast well pleased;
Behold the blood of thy Son which was shed,
the blood of him whom thou gavest
that thyself might be glorified;

Wherefore, Father,
spare these my brethren
that believe on my name,
that they may come unto me
and have everlasting life.

Hearken, O ye people of my church,
and ye elders,
Listen together,
and hear my voice,
while it is called today,
and harden not your hearts;

For verily I say unto you that
I am Alpha and Omega,
the beginning and the end,
the light and the life of the world;
a light that shineth in darkness,
and the darkness comprehendeth it not.

I came unto my own,
and my own received me not;
But unto as many as received me
gave I power to do many miracles
and to become the sons of God,
And even unto them that believed on my name
gave I power to obtain eternal life.

And even so
I have sent mine everlasting covenant into the world,
to be a light to the world,
and to be a standard for my people
and for the Gentiles to seek to it,
and to be a messenger before my face
to prepare the way before me.

D&C 45:1a-2d

And assuredly as Christ liveth, He spake these words
unto our fathers, saying:
“Whatsoever thing ye shall ask the Father in My name,
which is good, in faith believing that ye shall receive,
Behold, it shall be done unto you.”

Wherefore, my beloved brethren, hath miracles ceased
because that Christ hath ascended into heaven
and hath sat down on the right hand of God
to claim of the Father His rights of mercy
which He hath upon the children of men? –

For He hath answered the ends of the law,
And He claimeth all those that hath faith in Him;
And they that have faith in Him
will cleave unto every good thing;
Wherefore, He advocateth the cause of the children of men;
And He dwelleth eternally in the heavens-

And because that He hath done this, my beloved brethren,
hath miracles ceased?

Behold, I say unto you, Nay!
Neither hath angels ceased to minister
unto the children of men;

For behold, they are subject unto Him to minister
according to the word of His command,
Showing themselves unto them of strong faith
and a firm mind in every form of godliness;

And the office of their ministry is
to call men unto repentance,
And to fulfill and to do the work of the covenants of the
Father which He hath made unto the children of men,
To prepare the way among the children of men by
declaring the word of Christ unto the chosen vessels
of the Lord, that they may bear testimony of Him.

And by so doing, the Lord God prepareth the way that
the residue of men may have faith in Christ,
that the Holy Ghost may have place in
their hearts according to the power thereof;
And after this manner bringeth to pass the Father
the covenants which He hath made
unto the children of men.

And Christ hath said:
“If ye will have faith in Me, ye shall have power
to do whatsoever thing is expedient in Me.”

And He hath said:
“Repent! all ye ends of the earth,
and come unto Me!
and be baptized in My name!
and have faith in Me that ye may be saved!”

Moroni 7:26-36

My little children,
These things write I unto you,
that ye sin not.
But if any man sin and repent,
we have an advocate with the Father,
Jesus Christ the righteous;

And he is the propitiation for our sins;
And not for ours only,
but also for the sins of the whole world.

And hereby we do know that we know him,
if we keep his commandments.

He that saith, I know him,
and keepeth not his commandments,
is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

But whoso keepeth his word,
in him verily is the love of God perfected;
hereby know we that we are in him.

He that saith he abideth in him
ought himself also so to walk,
even as he walked.

The Ascension of Jesus Christ

Jesus saith unto her,
Hold me not;
for I am not yet ascended to my Father;
But go to my brethren, and say unto them,
I ascend
unto my Father,
and your Father;
and to my God,
and your God.

John 20:17

The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus,
of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,

Until the day in which he was taken up,
after that he through the Holy Ghost
had given commandments unto the apostles
whom he had chosen;

To whom also he showed himself alive
after his sufferings by many infallible proofs,
being seen of them forty days,
and speaking of the things
pertaining to the kingdom of God;

And, being with them when they were assembled together,
commanded them that they should not depart
from Jerusalem,
but wait for the promise of the Father,
which, saith he, ye have heard of me.

For John truly baptized with water;
but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost
not many days hence.

When they therefore were come together,
they asked of him, saying,
Lord, wilt thou at this time
restore again the kingdom to Israel?

And he said unto them,
It is not for you to know the times or the seasons,
which the Father hath put in his own power.

But ye shall receive power,
after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you;
And ye shall be witnesses unto me
both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria,
and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

And when he had spoken these things,
while they beheld,
he was taken up;
and a cloud received him out of their sight.

And while they looked steadfastly
toward heaven as he went up,
behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;

Which also said,
Ye men of Galilee,
why stand ye gazing up into heaven?
This same Jesus,
which is taken up from you into heaven,
shall so come in like manner
as ye have seen him go into heaven.

Acts 1:1-11

And now Abinadi saith unto them:
I would that ye should understand that God Himself
shall come down among the children of men
and shall redeem His people;

And because He dwelleth in flesh, He shall be called
the Son of God;

And having subjected the flesh to the will of the Father,
being the Father and the Son-
The Father, because He was conceived by the power
of God, and the Son, because of the flesh,
thus becoming the Father and Son,

And They are one God, yea, the Very Eternal Father
of heaven and of earth-

And thus the flesh becoming subject to the Spirit, or the
Son to the Father, being one God, suffereth temptation
and yieldeth not to the temptation,
But suffereth Himself to be mocked and scourged
and cast out and disowned by His people.

And after all this, and after working many mighty
miracles among the children of men, He shall be led,
yea, even as Isaiah said,
“As a sheep before the shearer is dumb,
so He opened not His mouth,”

Yea, even so He shall be led, crucified and slain,
the flesh becoming subject even unto death,
The will of the Son being swallowed up
in the will of the Father.

And thus God breaketh the bands of death,
Having gained the victory over death, giving the Son
power to make intercession for the children of men,

Having ascended into heaven,
Having the bowels of mercy being filled with compassion
toward the children of men,

Standing betwixt them and justice,
Having broken the bands of death, taken upon Himself
their iniquity and their transgressions,
Having redeemed them and satisfied
the demands of justice.

Mosiah 8:33-37

Wherefore he saith,
When he ascended up on high,
he led captivity captive,
and gave gifts unto men.

(Now that he ascended,
What is it but that he also descended
first into the lower parts of the earth?

He who descended,
is the same also who ascended up into heaven,
to glorify him who reigneth over all heavens,
that he might fill all things.)

And he gave
some, apostles; and
some, prophets; and
some, evangelists; and
some, pastors and teachers;

For the perfecting of the saints,
for the work of the ministry,
for the edifying of the body of Christ;

Till we,
in the unity of the faith,
all come to the knowledge of the Son of God,
unto a perfect man,
unto the measure of the stature
of the fullness of Christ;

That we henceforth
be no more children, tossed to and fro,
and carried about with every wind of doctrine,
by the sleight of men,
and cunning craftiness,
whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

But speaking the truth in love,
may grow up into him in all things,
which is the head,
even Christ;

From whom the whole body
fitly joined together and compacted
by that which every joint supplieth,
according to the effectual working
in the measure of every part,
maketh increase of the body
unto the edifying of itself in love.

Ephesians 4:8-16

The Atonement of Jesus Christ

Behold, I say unto you that I do know that Christ
shall come among the children of men to take
upon Him the transgressions of His people,
And that He shall atone for the sins of the world,
For the Lord God hath spoken it.

For it is expedient that an atonement should be made;
For according to the great plans of the Eternal God,
there must be an atonement made, or else
all mankind must unavoidably perish-

Yea, all are hardened,
Yea, all are fallen and are lost and must perish,
except it be through the atonement
which it is expedient should be made.

For it is expedient that there should be
a great and last sacrifice,
Yea, not a sacrifice of man,
neither of beast,
neither of any manner of fowl,
For it shall not be a human sacrifice,
But it must be an infinite and an eternal sacrifice.

Now there is not any man that can sacrifice his own
blood, which will atone for the sins of another.

Now if a man murdereth, behold, will our law,
which is just, take the life of his brother?
I say unto you, Nay,

But the law requireth the life of him who hath murdered;
Therefore, there is nothing which is short of an infinite
atonement which will suffice for the sins of the world,
Therefore, it is expedient that there
should be a great and last sacrifice.

And then shall there be, or it is expedient there
should be, a stop to the shedding of blood,
Then shall the law of Moses be fulfilled,
Yea, it shall all be fulfilled, every jot and tittle,
And none shall have passed away.

And behold, this is the whole meaning of the law,
every whit a pointing to that great and last sacrifice,
And that great and last sacrifice will be the Son of God,
yea, infinite and eternal.

And thus He shall bring salvation to all those
who shall believe on His name,

This being the intent of this last sacrifice:
To bring about the bowels of mercy,
which overpowereth justice,
And bringeth about means unto men
that they may have faith unto repentance.

And thus mercy can satisfy the demands of justice
and encircles them in the arms of safety,
While he that exerciseth no faith unto repentance is
exposed to the whole law of the demands of justice;
Therefore, only unto him that hath faith unto repentance is
brought about the great and eternal plan of redemption.

Therefore, may God grant unto you, my brethren, that
ye might begin to exercise your faith unto repentance,
That ye begin to call upon His holy name
that He would have mercy upon you;
Yea, cry unto Him for mercy, for He is mighty to save;

Yea, humble yourselves and continue in prayer unto Him-
Cry unto Him when ye are in your fields,
yea, over all your flocks;
Cry unto Him in your houses, yea, over all your household,
both morning, midday and evening;
Yea, cry unto Him against the power of your enemies;
Yea, cry unto Him against the devil
which is an enemy to all righteousness;

Cry unto Him over the crops of your fields
that ye may prosper in them;
Cry over the flocks of your fields that they may increase.

But this is not all-
Ye must pour out your souls in your closets
and your secret places and in your wilderness;

Yea, and when you do not cry unto the Lord,
Let your hearts be full, drawn out in prayer unto Him
continually for your welfare, and also for the welfare
of those that are around you.

And now behold, my brethren, I say unto you,
do not suppose that this is all,
For after ye have done all these things,
If ye turn away the needy and the naked, and visit not
the sick and afflicted and impart of your substance,
if ye have, to those which stand in need-

I say unto you, if ye do not any of these things,
Behold, your prayer is vain and availeth you nothing,
And ye are as hypocrites which do deny the faith;

Therefore, if ye do not remember to be charitable,
Ye are as dross which the refiners do cast out-it being
of no worth-and is trodden underfoot of men.

Alma 16:207-225

For it behooveth the great Creator that He suffereth
Himself to become subject unto man in the flesh
and die for all men, that all men
might become subject unto Him;

For as death hath passed upon all men to fulfill
the merciful plan of the great Creator,
there must needs be a power of resurrection,

And the resurrection must needs come unto man
by reason of the fall,

And the fall came by reason of transgression;

And because man became fallen, they were cut off
from the presence of the Lord;

Wherefore, it must needs be an infinite atonement-

save it should be an infinite atonement,
this corruption could not put on incorruption;

Wherefore, the first judgment which came upon man
must needs have remained to an endless duration,

And if so, this flesh must have laid down to rot and
to crumble to its mother earth, to rise no more.

O the wisdom of God, His mercy and grace!

II Nephi 6:10-19

For if, when we were enemies,
we were reconciled to God
by the death of his Son;
Much more,
being reconciled,
we shall be saved by his life.

And not only so,
but we also joy in God
through our Lord Jesus Christ,
by whom we have now received the atonement.

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world,
and death by sin,
and so death passed upon all men,
for that all have sinned;

(For, before the law,
sin was in the world;
yet sin is not imputed to those who have no law.

Nevertheless, death reigned from Adam to Moses,
even over them that had not sinned
after the similitude of Adam’s transgression,
who is the figure of him that was to come.
For I say, that through the offense,
death reigned over all.

But the offense is not as the free gift,
for the gift aboundeth.
For, if through the offense of one, many be dead;
much more the grace of God,
and the gift by grace,
hath abounded by one man,
Jesus Christ,
unto many.

And not as, by one that sinned, is the gift;
for the judgment is by one to condemnation,
But the free gift is of many offenses
unto justification.

For if by one man’s offense death reigned by one;
much more they which receive abundance of grace
and of the gift of righteousness
shall reign in life by one,
Jesus Christ.)

Therefore, as by the offense of one
judgment came upon all men to condemnation;
Even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came
upon all men unto justification of life.

For as by one man’s disobedience
many were made sinners,
So by the obedience of one
shall many be made righteous.

Romans 5:10-19

The Baptism of Jesus Christ

Know ye not,
that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ
were baptized into his death?

Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death;
that like as Christ was raised up
from the dead by the glory of the Father,
even so we also should walk in newness of life.

For if we have been planted together
in the likeness of his death,
we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection;

Knowing this,
that our old man is crucified with him,
that the body of sin might be destroyed,
that henceforth we should not serve sin.

For he that is dead to sin is freed from sin.

Now if we be dead with Christ,
we believe that we shall also live with him;

Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead
dieth no more;
death hath no more dominion over him.

For in that he died,
he died unto sin once;
but in that he liveth,
he liveth unto God.

Likewise reckon ye also yourselves
to be dead indeed unto sin,
but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body,
that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

Neither yield ye your members as instruments
of unrighteousness unto sin;
But yield yourselves unto God,
as those that are alive from the dead,
and your members as instruments
of righteousness unto God.

For in so doing sin shall not have dominion over you;
for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

What then? shall we sin,
because we are not under the law,
but under grace:
God forbid.

Know ye not,
that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey,
his servants ye are to whom ye obey;
whether of sin unto death,
or of obedience unto righteousness?

But God be thanked,
that ye are not the servants of sin,
for ye have obeyed from the heart
that form of doctrine which was delivered you.

Romans 6:5-17

Wherefore, I would that ye should remember that I have
spoken unto you concerning that prophet which the
Lord showed unto me that should baptize the Lamb
of God, which should take away the sin of the world.

And now if the Lamb of God, He being holy, should have
need to be baptized by water to fulfill all righteousness,
O then, how much more need have we, being unholy,
to be baptized, yea, even by water!

And now I would ask of you, my beloved brethren,
wherein the Lamb of God did fulfill all righteousness
in being baptized by water-
Know ye not that He was holy?

But notwithstanding He being holy, He showeth unto
the children of men that according to the flesh
He humbleth Himself before the Father,
And witnesseth unto the Father that He would be obedient
unto Him in keeping His commandments;

Wherefore, after that He was baptized with water, the
Holy Ghost descended upon Him in the form of a dove.

And again, it showeth unto the children of men the
straitness of the path and the narrowness of the gate
by which they should enter, He having set the example
before them;

And He saith unto the children of men:
“Follow thou Me.”

Wherefore my beloved brethren, can we follow Jesus
save we shall be willing to keep the commandments
of the Father?

And the Father saith:
“Repent ye! Repent ye!
And be baptized in the name of My beloved Son!”

And also the voice of the Son came unto me, saying:
“He that is baptized in My name,
To him will the Father give the Holy Ghost, like unto Me;
Wherefore, follow Me and do the things
which ye have seen Me do.”

Wherefore my beloved brethren, I know that if ye
shall follow the Son with full purpose of heart,
Acting no hypocrisy and no deception before God,
but with real intent, repenting of your sins,
Witnessing unto the Father that ye are willing to
take upon you the name of Christ by baptism,
Yea, by following your Lord and Savior down
into the water according to His word,
Behold, then shall ye receive the Holy Ghost;

Yea, then cometh the baptism of fire
and of the Holy Ghost,
And then can ye speak with the tongue of angels
and shout praises unto the Holy One of Israel.

But behold, my beloved brethren, thus came
the voice of the Son unto me, saying:
“After that ye have repented of your sins,
And witnessed unto the Father that ye are willing to
keep My commandments by the baptism of water,
And have received the baptism of fire
and of the Holy Ghost,
And can speak with a new tongue,
yea, even with the tongue of angels-
And after this should bdeny Me,
It would have been better for you
that ye had not known Me.”
And I heard a voice from the Father, saying:
“Yea, the words of My Beloved are true and faithful;

He that endureth to the end, the same shall be saved.”

And now my beloved brethren, I know by this that unless
a man shall endure to the end in following the example
of the Son of the living God, he cannot be saved.

Wherefore, do the things which I have told you that I have
seen that your Lord and your Redeemer should do;

For, for this cause have they been shown unto me:
That ye might know the gate by which ye should enter.

For the gate by which ye should enter
is repentance and baptism by water,
And then cometh a remission of your sins
by fire and by the Holy Ghost,

And then are ye in this strait and narrow path
which leads to eternal life;
Yea, ye have entered in by the gate,
Ye have done according to the commandments
of the Father and the Son,

And ye have received the Holy Ghost which witnesses
of the Father and the Son unto the fulfilling
of the promise which He hath made, that
if ye entered in by the way ye should receive.

And now my beloved brethren, after that ye have got into
this strait and narrow path, I would ask if all is done.

Behold, I say unto you, Nay;
For ye have not come thus far save it were by the
word of Christ, with unshaken faith in Him,
Relying wholly upon the merits of Him
who is mighty to save.

Wherefore, ye must press forward
with a steadfastness in Christ,
Having a perfect brightness of hope
and a love of God and of all men.

Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon
the word of Christ and endure to the end,
“Behold,” thus saith the Father,
“ye shall have eternal life.”

And now behold, my beloved brethren, this is the way,
And there is none other way nor name given under heaven
whereby man can be saved in the kingdom of God.

And now behold, this is the doctrine of Christ,
And the only and true doctrine of the Father
and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost,
which is one God without end. Amen.

II Nephi 13:6-32

Even so ye must be born again,
into the kingdom of heaven,
of water, and of the Spirit,
And be cleansed by blood,
even the blood of mine Only Begotten;
That ye may be sanctified from all sin;
and enjoy the words of eternal life in this world,
and eternal life in the world to come;
even immortal glory.

For, by the water ye keep the commandment;
By the Spirit ye are justified;
And by the blood ye are sanctified.

Therefore it is given to abide in you,
the record of heaven,
the Comforter,
the peaceable things of immortal glory,
the truth of all things,
that which quickeneth all things
which maketh alive all things,
that which knoweth all things,
and hath all power according to
wisdom,
mercy,
truth,
justice and
judgment.

And now, behold, I say unto you,
This is the plan of salvation unto all men,
through the blood of mine Only Begotten,
who shall come in the meridian of time.

The Birth of Jesus Christ

Now, as it is written,
The birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise.

After his mother, Mary, was espoused to Joseph,
before they came together
she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

Then Joseph, her husband,
being a just man,
and not willing to make her a public example,
was minded to put her away privily.

But while he thought on there things,
behold, the angel of the Lord
appeared unto him in a vision, saying,

Joseph, thou son of David,
fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife;
for that which is conceived in her,
is of the Holy Ghost.

And she shall bring forth a son,
and thou shalt call his name Jesus;
for he shall save his people from their sins.

Now this took place,
that all things might be fulfilled,
which were spoken of the Lord,
by the prophets, saying,

Behold, a virgin shall be with child,
and shall bring forth a son,
and they shall call his name Emmanuel,
(which, being interpreted, is, God with us.)

Then Joseph, awaking out of his vision,
did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him,
and took unto him his wife;

And knew her not until
she had brought forth her first-born son;

And they called his name Jesus.

Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea,
in the days of Herod the king,
Behold, there came wise men
from the east to Jerusalem, saying

Where is the child that is born,
the Messiah of the Jews?
For we have seen his star in the east,
and have come to worship him.

When Herod the king had heard of the child,
he was troubled,
and all Jerusalem with him.

And when he had gathered all the chief priests,
and scribes of the people together,
he demanded of them, saying,
Where is the place that is written of by the prophets,
in which Christ should be born?
For he greatly feared,
yet he believed not the prophets.

And they said unto him,
It is written by the prophets,
that he should be born in Bethlehem of Judea,
for thus have they said,

The word of the Lord came unto us, saying,
And thou Bethlehem, which lieth in the land of Judea,
in thee shall be born a prince,
which art not the least among the princes of Judea;
for out of thee shall come the Messiah,
who shall save my people Israel.

Then Herod, when he had called the wise men privily,
inquired of them diligently what time the star appeared.

And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said,
Go and search diligently for the young child;
and when ye have found the child,
bring me word again,
that I may come and worship him also.

When they had heard the king, they departed;
And lo, the star which they saw in the east,
went before them,
until it came and stood over where the young child was.

When they saw the star,
they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.

And when they were come into the house,
they saw the young child,
with Mary his mother,
and fell down and worshiped him.
And when they had opened their treasures,
they presented unto him gifts;
gold, and
frankincense, and
myrrh.

And being warned of God in a dream
that they should not return to Herod,
they departed into their own country another way.

And when they were departed,
behold, the angel of the Lord,
appeared to Joseph in a vision, saying,
Arise and take the young child and his mother,
and flee into Egypt,
and tarry thou there until I bring thee word;
for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.

And then he arose,
and took the young child,
and the child’s mother, by night,
and departed into Egypt;

And was there until the death of Herod,
that it might be fulfilled
which was spoken of the Lord, by the prophet, saying,
Out of Egypt have I called my Son.

Matthew 2:1-3:15

And now it came to pass that Samuel the Lamanite
did prophesy a great many more things
which cannot be written.

And behold, he saith unto them:

Behold, I give unto you a sign –
For five years more cometh,
And behold, then cometh the Son of God to redeem
all those who shall believe on His name;

And behold, this will I give unto you for a sign
at the time of His coming –
For behold, there shall be great lights in heaven,
Insomuch that in the night before He cometh,
there shall be no darkness,
Insomuch that it shall appear unto man as if it was day;

Therefore, there shall be one day and a night and a day,
as if it were one day and there were no night.

And this shall be unto you for a sign, for ye shall know
of the rising of the sun, and also of its setting;

Therefore, they shall know of a surety
that there shall be two days and a night;
Nevertheless, the night shall not be darkened;
And it shall be the night before He is born.

And behold, there shall be a new star arise,
such an one as ye never have beheld;
And this also shall be a sign unto you.

And behold this is not all –
There shall be many signs and wonders in heaven;

And it shall come to pass that ye shall
all be amazed and wonder,
Insomuch that ye shall fall to the earth.
And it shall come to pass that whosoever shall believe
on the Son of God, the same shall have everlasting life.

And behold, thus hath the Lord commanded me, by His
angel, that I should come and tell this thing unto you;
Yea, He hath commanded that I should prophesy
these things unto you;
Yea, He hath said unto me,
“Cry unto this people,
Repent and prepare the way of the Lord!”

Helaman 5:55-63

Now it came to pass that there was a day set apart
by the unbelievers that all those who believed
in those traditions should be put to death,
except the sign should come to pass
which had been given by Samuel the prophet.

Now it came to pass that when Nephi, the son of Nephi,
saw this wickedness of his people,
his heart was exceeding sorrowful.

And it came to pass that he went out and bowed himself
down upon the earth and cried mightily to his God
in behalf of his people, yea, those which
were about to be destroyed because of
their faith in the tradition of their fathers.

And it came to pass that he cried mightily
unto the Lord all that day;
And behold, the voice of the Lord came unto him, saying:
Lift up your head and be of good cheer,
for behold, the time is at hand;
And on this night shall the sign be given,

And on the morrow come I into the world to show
unto the world that I will fulfill all that I have caused
to be spoken by the mouth of My holy prophets.

Behold, I come unto My own to fulfill all things
which I have made known unto the children of men
from the foundation of the world,
And to do the will both of the Father and of the Son –
of the Father because of Me,
and of the Son because of My flesh.

And behold, the time is at hand,
And this night shall the sign be given.

The Blessing of Jesus Christ

And Jesus, seeing the multitudes,
went up into a mountain;
and when he was set down,
his disciples came unto him;

And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,

Blessed are they who shall believe on me;
and again, more blessed are they
who shall believe on your words,
when ye shall testify that ye have seen me
and that I am.

Yea, blessed are they who shall believe on your words,
and come down into the depth of humility,
and be baptized in my name;
for they shall be visited with fire
and the Holy Ghost,
and shall receive a remission of their sins.

Yea, blessed are the poor in spirit,
who come unto me;
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

And again, blessed are they that mourn;
for they shall be comforted.

And blessed are the meek;
for they shall inherit the earth.

And blessed are all they that do hunger
and thirst after righteousness;
for they shall be filled with the Holy Ghost.

And blessed are the merciful;
for they shall obtain mercy.

And blessed are all the pure in heart;
for they shall see God.

And blessed are all the peacemakers;
for they shall be called the children of God.

Blessed are all they that are persecuted
for my name’s sake;
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

And blessed are ye when men shall revile you,
and persecute you,
and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely,
for my sake.

For ye shall have great joy,
and be exceeding glad;
for great shall be your reward in heaven;
for so persecuted they the prophets
which were before you.

Verily, verily, I say unto you,
I give unto you to be the salt of the earth;
But if the salt shall lose its savor,
wherewith shall the earth be salted?
the salt shall thenceforth be good for nothing,
but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

Verily, verily, I say unto you,
I give unto you to be the light of the world;
a city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.

Behold, do men light a candle and put it under a bushel?
Nay, but on a candlestick;
and it giveth light to all that are in the house.

Therefore, let your light so shine before this world,
that they may see your good works,
and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

Matthew 5:1-18

When the Son of Man shall come in his glory,
and all the holy angels with him,
then he shall sit upon the throne of his glory;

And before him shall be gathered all nations;
and he shall separate them one from another,
as a shepherd divideth sheep from the goats;
The sheep on his right hand,
but the goats on his left.

And he shall sit upon his throne,
and the twelve apostles with him.

Then shall the king say unto them on his right hand,
Come, ye blessed of my Father,
inherit the kingdom prepared for you
from the foundation of the world.

For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat;
I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink;
I was a stranger, and ye took me in;
Naked, and ye clothed me;

I was sick, and ye visited me;
I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

Then shall the righteous answer him, saying,
Lord, when saw we thee an hungered, and fed thee;
Or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

When saw we thee a stranger,
and took thee in;
Or naked, and clothed thee?

Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison,
and came unto thee?

And the king shall answer and say unto them,
Verily I say unto you,
inasmuch as ye have done it
unto one of the least of these my brethren,
ye have done it unto me.

Matthew 25:32-41

And blessed are they which shall seek to bring forth
My Zion at that day,
for they shall have the gift
and the power of the Holy Ghost;

And if they endure unto the end,
they shall be lifted up at the last day
and shall be saved
in the everlasting kingdom of the Lamb;

Yea, whoso shall publish peace,
that shall publish tidings of great joy,
how beautiful upon the mountains
shall they be!

I Nephi 3:187-189

Now the God of peace,
that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus,
that great Shepherd of the sheep,
through the blood of the everlasting covenant,

Make you perfect in every good work to do his will,
working in you that which is well pleasing in his sight,
through Jesus Christ;
to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

The Calling of Jesus Christ

And there was delivered unto him,
the book of the prophet Esaias.
And when he had opened the book,
he found the place where it was written,

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he hath anointed me
to preach the gospel to the poor,
He hath sent me to heal the broken-hearted,
to preach deliverance to the captives,
and the recovering of sight to the blind;
to set at liberty them that are bruised;

To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

And he closed the book,
and he gave it again to the minister,
and he sat down.

And the eyes of all those who were in the synagogue,
were fastened on him.
And he began to say unto them,
This day is this Scripture fulfilled in your ears.

Luke 4:17-21

For behold, did not Moses prophesy unto them
concerning the coming of the Messiah and that
God should redeem His people?
Yea, and even all the prophets which have prophesied
ever since the world began,

Have they not spoken more or less
concerning these things?

Have they not said that God Himself should come down
among the children of men and take upon Him
the form of man and go forth in mighty power
upon the face of the earth?

Yea, and have they not said also that He should bring to
pass the resurrection of the dead and that He, Himself,
should be oppressed and afflicted?

Yea, even doth not Isaiah say:

“Who hath believed our report?
And to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?

For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant,
and as a root out of dry ground.
He hath no form nor comeliness;
And when we shall see Him,
There is no beauty that we should desire Him.

He is despised and rejected of men,
A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.
And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him;
He was despised, and we esteemed Him not.

Surely He hath borne our griefs and carried our sorrows;
Yet we did esteem Him stricken, smitten of God
and afflicted.
But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement of our peace was upon Him,
And with His stripes we are healed.

All we like sheep have gone astray;
We have turned, everyone, to his own way;
And the Lord hath laid on Him the iniquities of us all.

He was oppressed and He was afflicted,
Yet He opened not His mouth;
He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter,
And as a sheep before her shearers is dumb,
so He opened not His mouth.

He was taken from prison and from judgment,
And who shall declare His generation?
For He was cut off out of the land of the living;
For the transgressions of My people was He stricken.

And He made His grave with the wicked
and with the rich in His death,
Because He had done no evil,
Neither was any deceit in His mouth.

Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him;
He hath put Him to grief.
When thou shalt make His soul an offering for sin,
He shall see His seed,
He shall prolong His days,
And the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in His hand.

He shall see of the travail of His soul and shall be satisfied;
By His knowledge shall My righteous Servant justify many,
For He shall bear their iniquities.

Therefore, will I divide Him a portion with the great,
And He shall divide the spoil with the strong,
Because He hath poured out His soul unto death,
And He was numbered with the transgressors,
And He bear the sins of many,
And made intercession for the transgressors.”

And now Abinadi saith unto them:
I would that ye should understand that God Himself
shall come down among the children of men
and shall redeem His people;

And because He dwelleth in flesh, He shall be called
the Son of God;

And after all this, and after working many mighty
miracles among the children of men, He shall be led,
yea, even as Isaiah said-
“As a sheep before the shearer is dumb,
so He opened not His mouth”-

Yea, even so He shall be led, crucified and slain,
the flesh becoming subject even unto death,
The will of the Son being swallowed up
in the will of the Father.

And thus God breaketh the bands of death,
Having gained the victory over death, giving the Son
power to make intercession for the children of men,

Having ascended into heaven,
Having the bowels of mercy being filled with compassion
toward the children of men,

standing betwixt them and justice,
Having broken the bands of death, taken upon Himself
their iniquity and their transgressions,
Having redeemed them and satisfied
the demands of justice.

Mosiah 8:11-37

Remember the worth of souls is great
in the sight of God;
For, behold, the Lord your Redeemer
suffered death in the flesh;
wherefore he suffered the pain of all men,
that all men might repent and come unto him.

And he hath risen again from the dead,
that he might bring all men unto him
on conditions of repentance.

And how great is his joy in the soul that repenteth.

Wherefore you are called to cry repentance unto this people.

And if it so be that you should labor all your days,
in crying repentance unto this people,
and bring save it be one soul unto me,
how great shall be your joy
with him in the kingdom of my Father!

And now, if your joy will be great with one soul
that you have brought unto me
into the kingdom of my Father,
how great will be your joy,
if you should bring many souls unto me!

Behold, you have my gospel before you,
and my Rock, and my salvation.

Ask the Father in my name,
in faith believing that you shall receive,
and you shall have the Holy Ghost
which manifesteth all things,
which is expedient unto the children of men.

And if you have not faith, hope, and charity,
you can do nothing.

Contend against no church,
save it be the church of the Devil.

Take upon you the name of Christ,
and speak the truth in soberness;

and as many as repent,
and are baptized in my name,
which is Jesus Christ,
and endure to the end,
the same shall be saved.

Behold, Jesus Christ is the name
which is given of the Father,
and there is none other name given
whereby man can be saved;

Wherefore, all men must take upon them
the name which is given of the Father,
for in that name shall they be called
at the last day;
Wherefore, if they know not the name
by which they are called,
they can not have place
in the kingdom of my Father.

The Church of Jesus Christ

He said unto them,
But whom say ye that I am?

And Simon Peter answered and said,
Thou art the Christ,
the Son of the living God.

And Jesus answered and said unto him,
Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-Jona;
for flesh and blood hath not revealed this unto thee,
but my Father who is in heaven.

And I say also unto thee,
that thou art Peter;
And upon this rock I will build my church,
and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Matthew 16:16-19

Behold, this is my doctrine:
Whosoever repenteth and cometh unto me,
the same is my church;
Whosoever declareth more or less that this,
the same is not of me, but against me;
therefore, he is not of my church.

And now, behold, whosoever is of my church,
and endureth of my church to the end,
him will I establish upon my Rock;
and the gates of hell shall not prevail against him.

And now, remember the words of him
who is the life and light of the world;
your Redeemer, your Lord, your God. Amen.

D&C 3:16-18

Moreover, brethren,
I would not that ye should be ignorant,
how that all our fathers were under the cloud,
and all passed through the sea;

And were all baptized unto Moses
in the cloud and in the sea;

And did all eat the same spiritual meat;

And did all drink the same spiritual drink;
For they drank of that spiritual Rock
that followed them;
And that Rock was Christ.

But with many of them God was not well pleased;
for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

Now these things were our examples,
to the intent we should not lust
after evil things, as they also lusted.

Neither be ye idolaters,
as were some of them; as it is written,
The people sat down to eat and drink,
and rose up to play.

Neither let us commit fornication,
as some of them committed,
and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.

Neither let us tempt Christ,
as some of them also tempted,
and were destroyed of serpents.

Neither murmur ye,
as some of them also murmured,
and were destroyed of the destroyer.

Now, all these things
happened unto them for ensamples;
And they were written for our admonition also,
And for an admonition for those
upon whom the end of the world shall come.

Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth
take heed lest he fall.

There hath no temptation taken you
but such as is common to man;
but God is faithful,
who will not suffer you to be tempted
above that ye are able;
But will with the temptation
also make a way to escape,
that ye may be able to bear it.

Wherefore, my dearly beloved,
flee from idolatry.

I Corinthians 10:1-14

For the Lord hath said,
“This is My church
and I will establish it
and nothing shall overthrow it,
save it is the transgression of My people.”

The Commandment of Jesus Christ

A new commandment I give unto you.
That ye love one another;
As I have loved you,
that ye also love one another.

By this shall all men know
that ye are my disciples,
if ye have love one to another.

John 13:34,35

I am the vine, ye are the branches.
He that abideth in me, and I in him,
the same bringeth forth much fruit;
For without me ye can do nothing.

If a man abide not in me,
he is cast forth as a branch,
and is withered;
and men gather them,
and cast them into the fire,
and they are burned.

If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you,
ye shall ask what ye will,
and it shall be done unto you.

Herein is my Father glorified,
that ye bear much fruit;
so shall ye be my disciples.

As the Father hath loved me,
so have I loved you;
Continue ye in my love.

If ye keep my commandments,
ye shall abide in my love;
even as I have kept my Father’s commandments,
and abide in his love.

These things have I spoken unto you,
that my joy might remain in you,
and that your joy might be full.

This is my commandment,
That ye love one another,
as I have loved you.

Greater love hath no man than this,
that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Ye are my friends,
if ye do whatsoever I command you.

John 15:5-14

Verily I say unto you,
It is not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord,
that shall enter unto the kingdom of heaven;
but he that doeth the will of my Father who is in heaven.

For the day soon cometh,
that men shall come before me to judgment,
to be judged according to their works.

Matthew 7:30,31

Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ
is born of God;
And everyone that loveth him that begat
loveth him also that is begotten of him.

by this we know that we love the children of God,
when we love God, and keep his commandments.

For this is the love of God,
that we keep his commandments;
and his commandments are not grievous.

For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world;
and this is the victory that overcometh the world,
even our faith.

Who is he that overcometh the world,
but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

This is he that came by water and blood,
even Jesus Christ;
Not by water only, but by water and blood.
And it is the Spirit that beareth witness,
because the Spirit is truth.

For there are three that bear record in heaven,
the Father,
the Word, and
the Holy Ghost;
And these three are one.

And there are three that bear witness in earth,
the Spirit, and
the water,
and the blood;
And these three agree in one.

If we receive the witness of men,
the witness of God is greater;
For this is the witness of God
which he hath testified of his Son.

He that believeth on the son of God
hath the witness in himself;
He that believeth not God hath made him a liar;
because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.

And this is the record, that
God hath given to us eternal life,
and this life is in his Son.

He that hath the Son hath life;
And he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

These things have I written unto you
that believe on the name of the Son of God;
that ye may know that ye have eternal life,
and that ye may continue to believe
on the name of the Son of God.

I John 5:1-13

Behold, my sons and my daughters which are
the sons and the daughters of my firstborn:
I would that ye should give ear unto my words,

For the Lord God hath said that,
Inasmuch as ye shall keep My commandments,
ye shall prosper in the land;

And inasmuch as ye will not keep My commandments,
ye shall be cut off from My presence.

II Nephi 3:7-9

And it came to pass that I, Nephi, said unto my father:
“I will go and do the things which the Lord
hath commanded,

For I know that the Lord giveth no commandments
unto the children of men save He shall prepare a way
for them, that they may accomplish the thing
which He commandeth them.”

I Nephi 1:65

My son, give ear to my words,
For I say unto you, even as I said unto Helaman,
that inasmuch as ye shall keep the commandments
of God, ye shall prosper in the land,
And inasmuch as ye will not keep the commandments
of God, ye shall be cut off from His presence.

And now my son, I trust that I shall have great joy
in you because of your steadiness
and your faithfulness unto God;
For as you have commenced in your youth
to look to the Lord your God,
Even so I hope that you will continue
in keeping His commandments;
For blessed is he that endureth to the end.

The Commission of Jesus Christ

And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying,
All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations,
baptizing them in the name of
the Father,
and of
the Son,
and of
the Holy Ghost;

Teaching them to observe all things
whatsoever I have commanded you;
and lo, I am with you always,
unto the end of the world. Amen.

Matthew 28:17-17

When they therefore were come together,
they asked of him, saying,
Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?

And he said unto them,
It is not for you to know the times or the seasons,
which the Father hath put in his own power.

But ye shall receive power,
after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you;
and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem,
and in all Judea,
and in Samaria,
and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

And when he had spoken these things,
while they beheld, he was taken up;
and a cloud received him out of their sight.

And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven
as he went up,
behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;

Which also said,
Ye men of Galilee,
why stand ye gazing up into heaven?
This same Jesus,
which is taken up from you into heaven,
shall so come in like manner
as ye have seen him go into heaven.

Acts 1:6-11

And it came to pass that the Lord did visit them
with His Spirit and said unto them:
“Be comforted”;
And they were comforted.

And the Lord said unto them also:
“Go forth among the Lamanites, thy brethren,
and establish My word;

Yet ye shall be patient in longsuffering and afflictions, that
ye may show forth good examples unto them in Me,
And I will make an instrument of thee in My hands
unto the salvation of many souls.”

And it came to pass that the hearts of the sons of Mosiah,
and also those which were with them, took courage
to go forth unto the Lamanites to declare unto them
the word of God.

The Commitment of Jesus Christ

Behold, I Am Jesus Christ, the Son of God;
I created the heavens and the earth and all things
that in them is;

I was with the Father from the beginning;
I Am in the Father and the Father in Me,
And in Me hath the Father glorified His name.

I came unto My own and My own received Me not,
And the scriptures concerning My coming are fulfilled;

And as many as have received Me, to them
have I given to become the sons of God,
And even so will I to as many as shall believe on My name.

For behold, by Me redemption cometh,
And in Me is the law of Moses fulfilled.

I Am the light and the life of the world;
I Am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.

And ye shall offer up unto Me no more
the shedding of blood;
Yea, your sacrifices and your burnt offerings
shall be done away,
For I will accept none of your sacrifices
and your burnt offerings;
And ye shall offer for a sacrifice unto Me
a broken heart and a contrite spirit;

And whoso cometh unto Me with a broken heart
and a contrite spirit, him will I baptize
with fire and with the Holy Ghost,
Even as the Lamanites, because of their faith in Me
at the time of their conversion, were baptized
with fire and with the Holy Ghost,
And they knew it not.

Behold, I have come unto the world to bring redemption
unto the world-to save the world from sin;
Therefore, whoso repenteth and cometh unto Me
as a little child, him will I receive,
For of such is the kingdom of God.

“ehold, for such I have laid down My life
and have taken it up again;
Therefore, repent and come unto Me,
ye ends of the earth, and be saved!

III Nephi 4:44-52

Let not your heart be troubled;
Ye believe in God,
Believe also in me.

In my Father’s house are many mansions;
if it were not so,
I would have told you.
I go to prepare a place for you.

And when I go,
I will prepare a place for you,
and come again and receive you unto myself;
that where I am, ye may be also.

John 14:1-3

For even hereunto were ye called;
because Christ also suffered for us,
leaving us an example,
that ye should follow his steps;

Who did no sin,
neither was guile found in his mouth;

Who, when he was reviled,
reviled not again;
When he suffered,
he threatened not;
But committed himself to him that judgeth righteously;

Who his own self bare our sins
in his own body on the tree,
that we, being dead to sins,
should live unto righteousness;
By whose stripes ye were healed.

For ye were as sheep going astray;
but are now returned unto
the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

I Peter 2:21-25

Wherefore, when he cometh into the world, he saith,
Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not,
but a body hast thou prepared me;

In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin
thou hast had no pleasure.

Then said I,
Lo, I come
(in the volume of the book it is written of me)
to do thy will, O God.

Above when he said,
Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings
and offering for sin
thou wouldest not,
neither hadst pleasure therein;
which are offered by the law;

Then said he,
Lo, I come to do thy will, O God.
He taketh away the first,
that he may establish the second.

By which will we are sanctified
through the offering once of
the body of Jesus Christ.

Luke 9:51

I have glorified thee on the earth;
I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

And now, O Father,
glorify thou me with thine own self
with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

I have manifested thy name unto the men
which thou gavest me out of the world;
Thine they were, and thou gavest them me;
and they have kept thy word.

Now they have known that all things
whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee.

For I have given unto them the words
which thou gavest me;
and they have received them,
and have known surely that I came out from thee,
and they have believed that thou didst send me.

I pray for them;
I pray not for the world,
but for them which thou hast given me;
for they are thine.

And all mine are thine,
and thine are mine;
And I am glorified in them.

John 17:4-10

And it came to pass,
when the time was come
that he should be received up,
he steadfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem;

Luke 9:51

Now when he was in Jerusalem,
at the passover, on the feast day,
Many believed on his name,
when they saw the miracles which he did.

But Jesus did not commit himself unto them,
because he knew all things,

and needed not that any should testify of man;
for he knew what was in man.

The Consistency of Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ
the same yesterday,
and today,
and forever.

Hebrews 13:8

But unto the Son he saith,
Thy throne, O God, is forever and ever;
A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of thy kingdom.

Thou hast loved righteousness,
and hated iniquity;
Therefore God, even thy God,
hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness
above thy fellows.

And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning
hast laid the foundation of the earth;
and the heavens are the works of thine hands.

They shall perish,
but thou remainest;
and they all shall wax old as doth a garment;

And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up,
and they shall be changed;
But thou art the same,
and thy years shall not fail.

Hebrews 1:8-12

And I would exhort you, my beloved brethren, that ye
remember that every good gift cometh of Christ.

And I would exhort you, my beloved brethren,
that ye remember that He is the same yesterday,
today and forever,
And that all these gifts of which I have spoken,
which are spiritual, never will be done away,
even as long as the world shall stand, only
according to the unbelief of the children of men.

Moroni 10:13,14

Wherefore he saith,
When he ascended up on high,
he led captivity captive,
and gave gifts unto men.

(Now that he ascended,
What is it but that he also descended
first into the lower parts of the earth?

He who descended,
is the same also who ascended up into heaven,
to glorify him who reigneth over all heavens,
that he might fill all things.)

And he gave
some, apostles; and
some, prophets; and
some, evangelists; and
some, pastors and teachers;

For the perfecting of the saints,
for the work of the ministry,
for the edifying of the body of Christ;

Till we,
in the unity of the faith,
all come to the knowledge of the Son of God,
unto a perfect man,
unto the measure of the stature
of the fullness of Christ;

That we henceforth
be no more children, tossed to and fro,
and carried about with every wind of doctrine,
by the sleight of men,
and cunning craftiness,
whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

But speaking the truth in love,
may grow up into him in all things,
which is the head,
even Christ;

From whom the whole body
fitly joined together and compacted
by that which every joint supplieth,
according to the effectual working
in the measure of every part,
maketh increase of the body
unto the edifying of itself in love.

The Continuance of Jesus Christ

Jesus answered them,
Verily, verily, I say unto you,
Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

And the servant abideth not in the house for ever,
but the Son abideth ever.

If the Son therefore shall make you free,
ye shall be free indeed.

I know that ye are Abraham’s seed;
but ye seek to kill me
because my word hath no place in you.

I speak that which I have seen with my Father;
and ye do that which ye have seen with your father.

John 8:34-38

… this man,
because he continueth ever,
hath an unchangeable priesthood.

Wherefore he is able also
to save them to the uttermost
that come unto God by him,
seeing he ever liveth
to make intercession for them.

Hebrews 7:23,24

For I, the Lord, the King of heaven, will be their king,
And I will be a light unto them forever
that hear My words.

II Nephi 7:21

O remember, remember, my sons, the words
which King Benjamin spake unto his people;
Yea, remember that there is no other way nor means
whereby man can be saved,
Only through the atoning blood of Jesus Christ,
which shall come;
Yea, remember that He cometh to redeem the world.

And remember also the words which Amulek
spake unto Zeezrom in the City of Ammonihah;
For he said unto him that the Lord surely should come
to redeem His people;
But that He should not come to redeem them in their sins,
But to redeem them from their sins;

And He hath power given unto Him from the Father
to redeem them from their sins because of repentance;
Therefore, He hath sent His angels to declare
the tidings of the conditions of repentance,
Which bringeth unto the power of the Redeemer,
unto the salvation of their souls.

And now my sons, remember, remember that it is
upon the Rock of our Redeemer, which is Christ,
the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation;
That when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds,
yea, his shafts in the whirlwind,

Yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm
shall beat upon you,
It shall have no power over you to drag you down
to the gulf of misery and endless wo,
Because of the Rock upon which ye are built,
which is a sure foundation, a foundation
whereon if men buildeth, they cannot fall.

Helaman 2:71-75

And the Lord said,
Blessed is he through whose seed Messiah shall come:
For he says, I am Messiah, the King of Zion;
the Rock of Heaven, which is broad as eternity.

Whoso comes in at the gate and climbs up by me
shall never fall:
Wherefore, blessed are they of whom I have spoken,
for they shall come forth with songs of everlasting joy.

The Doctrine of Jesus Christ

And they were astonished at his doctrine;
for his words were with power.

Luke 4:32

Jesus answered them, and said,
My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.

If any man will do his will,
he shall know of the doctrine,
whether it be of God,
or whether I speak of myself.

John 7:16,17

Behold, this is my doctrine:
Whosoever repenteth and cometh unto me,
the same is my church;
Whosoever declareth more or less that this,
the same is not of me, but against me;
therefore, he is not of my church.

And now, behold, whosoever is of my church,
and endureth of my church to the end,
him will I establish upon my Rock;
and the gates of hell shall not prevail against him.

And now, remember the words of him
who is the life and light of the world;
your Redeemer, your Lord, your God. Amen.

D&C 3:16-18

Behold, verily, verily I say unto you,
I will declare unto you My doctrine;
And this is My doctrine and it is the doctrine
which the Father hath given unto Me-

And I bear record of the Father,
And the Father beareth record of Me,
And the Holy Ghost beareth record
of the Father and Me-
And I bear record that the Father commandeth
all men everywhere to repent and believe in Me;

And whoso believeth in Me and is baptized,
the same shall be saved,
And they are they which shall inherit the kingdom of God;

And whoso believeth not in Me and is not baptized
shall be damned!

Verily, verily I say unto you that this is My doctrine,
And I bear record of it from the Father;
And whoso believeth in Me, believeth in the Father also;
And unto him will the Father bear record of Me,
For He will visit him with fire and with the Holy Ghost;

And thus will the Father bear record of Me;
And the Holy Ghost will bear record unto him
of the Father and Me,
For the Father and I and the Holy Ghost are one.

And again I say unto you,
Ye must repent,
and become as a little child,
and be baptized in My name,
Or ye can in no wise receive these things!

And again I say unto you,
Ye must repent,
and be baptized in My name,
and become as a little child,
Or ye can in nowise inherit the kingdom of God!

Verily, verily I say unto you that this is My doctrine;
And whoso buildeth upon this, buildeth upon My rock,
And the gates of hell shall not prevail against them.

And whoso shall declare more or less than this
and establish it for My doctrine,
The same cometh of evil and is not built upon My rock;
But he buildeth upon a sandy foundation,
And the gates of hell standeth open to receive such
when the floods come and the winds beat upon them;

Therefore, go forth unto this people and declare the words
which I have spoken unto the ends of the earth.

The Enemy of Jesus Christ

Another parable put he [Jesus] forth unto them, saying,
The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man
who sowed good seed in his field;

But while he slept,
his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat,
and went his way.

But when the blade sprung up,
and brought forth fruit,
then appeared the tares also.

So the servants of the householder
came and said unto him,
Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field?
Whence then hath it tares?

He said unto them,
An enemy hath done this.

And the servants said unto him,
Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?

But he said,
Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares,
ye root up also the wheat with them.

Let both grow together until the harvest,
and in the time of harvest,
I will say to the reapers,
Gather ye together first the wheat into my barn;
and the tares are bound in bundles to be burned.

Matthew 13:22-29

From whence come wars and fightings among you?
Come they not hence,
even of your lusts that war in your members?

Ye lust, and have not;
Ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain;
Ye fight and war; yet ye have not, because ye ask not.

Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss,
that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

Ye adulterers and adulteresses,
Know ye not that the friendship of the world
is enmity with God?
Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world
is the enemy of God.

James 4:1-4

Jesus said unto them,
If God were your Father,
ye would love me;
for I proceeded forth and came from God;
neither came I of myself, but he sent me.

Why do ye not understand my speech?
even because ye cannot bear my word.

Ye are of your father the devil,
and the lusts of your father ye will do;
He was a murderer from the beginning,
and abode not in the truth,
because there is no truth in him.
When he speaketh a lie,
he speaketh of his own;
for he is a liar,
and the father of it.

And because I tell you the truth,
ye believe me not.

John 8:42-44

For they that are after the flesh
do mind the things of the flesh;
But they that are after the Spirit,
the things of the Spirit.

For to be carnally minded is death;
But to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

Because the carnal mind is enmity against God;
for it is not subject to the law of God,
neither indeed can be.

So then they that are after the flesh
cannot please God.

But ye are not after the flesh,
but after the Spirit,
if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you.
Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ,
he is none of his.

Romans 8:5-9

Love not the world,
neither the things that are of the world.
If any man love the world,
the love of the Father is not in him.

For all in the world that is of
the lusts of the flesh,
and the lust of the eyes,
and the pride of life,
is not of the Father,
but is of the world.

And the world passeth away,
and the lust thereof;
But he that doeth the will of God
abideth forever.

I John 2:15-17

I have not written unto you
because ye know not the truth,
but because ye know it,
and that no lie is of the truth.

Who is a liar
but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ?
He is antichrist,
that denieth the Father and the Son.

Whosoever denieth the Son,
the same hath not the Father;
But he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.

Let that therefore abide in you,
which ye have heard from the beginning.
If that which ye have heard from the beginning
shall remain in you,
ye shall continue in the Son,
and also in the Father.

And this is the promise that he hath promised us,
even eternal life.

These things have I written unto you
concerning them that seduce you.

But the anointing which ye have received of him
abideth in you,
And ye need not that any man teach you;
But as the same anointing teacheth you of all things,
and is truth,
and is no lie,
and even as it hath taught you,
ye shall abide in him.

And now, little children,
abide in him;
that, when he shall appear,
we may have confidence,
and not be ashamed before him at his coming.

If ye know that he is righteous,
ye know that everyone that doeth righteousness
is born of him.

I John 2:21-29

Yea, humble yourselves and continue in prayer unto Him –
Cry unto Him when ye are in your fields,
yea, over all your flocks;
Cry unto Him in your houses, yea, over all your household,
both morning, midday and evening;
Yea, cry unto Him against the power of your enemies;
Yea, cry unto Him against the devil
which is an enemy to all righteousness;

Alma 16:219

Wherefore, all things which are good cometh of God;
And that which is evil cometh of the devil;
For the devil is an enemy unto God
and fighteth against Him continually,
And inviteth and enticeth to sin
and to do that which is evil continually.

Moroni 7:10

And now my beloved son, notwithstanding
their hardness, let us labor diligently;
For if we should cease to labor, we should be
brought under condemnation;
For we have a labor to perform whilst in this tabernacle
of clay, that we may conquer the enemy of all
righteousness and rest our souls in the kingdom of God.

Moroni 9:6

The Endurance of Jesus Christ

Jesus answered them and said,
Verily, verily, I say unto you,
Ye seek me,
not because ye desire to keep my sayings,
neither because ye saw the miracles,
but because ye did eat of the loaves
and were filled.

Labor not for the meat which perisheth,
but for that meat which endureth
unto everlasting life,
which the Son of Man hath power to give unto you;
For him hath God the Father sealed.

Then said they unto him,
What shall we do,
that we might work the works of God?

Jesus answered and said unto them,
This is the work of God,
that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

They said therefore unto him,
What sign shewest thou then,
that we may see, and believe thee?
What dost thou work?

Our fathers dad eat manna in the desert;
as it is written,
He gave them bread from heaven to eat.

Then Jesus said unto them
Verily, verily, I say unto you,
Moses gave you not that bread from heaven;
but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.

For the bread of God
is he which cometh down from heaven,
and giveth life unto the world.

Then said they unto him,
Lord, evermore give us this bread.

And Jesus said unto them,
I am the bread of life;
he that cometh to me shall never hunger;
and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

John 6:26-35

For all flesh is as grass,
and all the glory of man as the flower of grass.
The grass withereth,
and the flower thereof falleth away;

But the word of the Lord endureth forever.
And this is the word which by the gospel
is preached unto you.

I Peter 1:24,25

For there are three that bear record in heaven,
the Father,
the Word, and
the Holy Ghost;
And these three are one.

I John 5:7

Wherefore, seeing we also are compassed about
with so great a cloud of witnesses,
let us lay aside every weight,
and the sin which doth so easily beset us,
And let us run with patience
the race that is set before us,

Looking unto Jesus
the author and finisher of our faith;
Who for the joy that was set before him
endured the cross,
despising the shame,
and is set down at the right hand
of the throne of God.

For consider him that endured
such contradiction of sinners against himself,
lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

Hebrews 12:1-3

Be patient therefore, brethren,
unto the coming of the Lord.
Behold, the husbandman waiteth
for the precious fruit of the earth,
and hath long patience for it,
until he receive the early and latter rain.

Be ye also patient;
stablish your hearts;
for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.

Grudge not one against another, brethren,
lest ye be condemned;
Behold, the judge standeth before the door.

Take, my brethren, the prophets,
who have spoken in the name of the Lord,
for an example of suffering affliction,
and of patience.

Behold, we count them happy which endure.
Ye have heard of the patience of Job,
and have seen the end of the Lord;
that the Lord is very pitiful,
and of tender mercy.

James 5:7-11

And now my beloved brethren, I know by this that unless
a man shall endure to the end in following the example
of the Son of the living God, he cannot be saved.

Wherefore, do the things which I have told you that I have
seen that your Lord and your Redeemer should do;

For, for this cause have they been shown unto me:
That ye might know the gate by which ye should enter.

For the gate by which ye should enter
is repentance and baptism by water,
And then cometh a remission of your sins
by fire and by the Holy Ghost,

And then are ye in this strait and narrow path
which leads to eternal life;
Yea, ye have entered in by the gate,
Ye have done according to the commandments
of the Father and the Son,

And ye have received the Holy Ghost which witnesses
of the Father and the Son unto the fulfilling
of the promise which He hath made, that
if ye entered in by the way ye should receive.

And now my beloved brethren, after that ye have got into
this strait and narrow path, I would ask if all is done.

Behold, I say unto you, Nay;

Amen.

The Faith of Jesus Christ

Then answered Jesus and said unto them,
Verily, Verily, I say unto you,
The Son can do nothing of himself,
but what he seeth the Father do;
For what things soever he doeth,
these also doeth the Son likewise.

For the Father loveth the Son,
and showeth him all things that himself doeth;
And he will show him greater works than these,
that ye may marvel.

For as the Father raiseth up the dead and quickeneth them;
even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.

For the Father judgeth no man;
but hath committed all judgment unto the Son;

That all should honor the Son,
even as they honor the Father.
He who honoreth not the Son,
honoreth not the Father who hath sent him.

Verily, verily, I say unto you,
He who heareth my word,
and believeth on him who sent me,
hath everlasting life,
and shall not come into condemnation;
but is passed from death into life.

Verily, verily, I say unto you,
The hour is coming, and now is,
when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God;
and they who hear shall live.

For as the Father hath life in himself,
so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;

And hath given him authority to execute judgment also,
because he is the Son of Man.

Marvel not at this;
for the hour is coming,
in the which all who are in their graves
shall hear his voice.

And shall come forth;
They who have done good,
in the resurrection of the just;
And they who have done evil,
in the resurrection of the unjust.

And shall all be judged of the Son of Man.
For as I hear, I judge,
and my judgment is just;

For I can of mine own self do nothing;
Because I seek not mine own will,
but the will of the Father who hath sent me.

John 5:19-31

Jesus cried and said,
He that believeth on me,
believeth not on me,
but on him that sent me.

And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.

I am come a light into the world,
that whosoever believeth on me
should not abide in darkness.

And if any man hear my words, and believe not,
I judge him not;
For I came not to judge the world,
but to save the world.

He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words,
hath one that judgeth him;
The word that I have spoken,
the same shall judge him in the last day.

For I have not spoken of myself;
But the Father which sent me,
he gave me a commandment,
what I should say, and what I should speak.

And I know that his commandment is life everlasting;
Whatsoever I speak therefore,
even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.

John 12:44-50

Let not your heart be troubled;
Ye believe in God, believe also in me.

In my Father’s house are many mansions;
If it were not so, I would have told you.
I go to prepare a place for you.

And when I go, I will prepare a place for you,
and come again and receive you unto myself;
that where I am, ye may be also.

And whither I go ye know; and the way ye know.

Thomas saith unto him,
Lord, we know not whither thou goest;
and how can we know the way?

Jesus saith unto him,
I am the way, the truth, and the life:
no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

If ye had known me,
ye should have known my Father also;
And from henceforth ye know him,
and have seen him.

Philip saith unto him,
Lord, show us the Father,
and it sufficeth us.

Jesus saith unto him,
Have I been so long time with you,
and yet hast thou not known me, Philip?
He that hath seen me hath seen the Father;
and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?

Believest thou not that I am in the Father,
and the Father in me?
The words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself;
But the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

Believe me that I am in the Father,
and the Father in me;
or else believe me for the very works’ sake.

Verily, verily, I say unto you,
He that believeth on me,
the works that I do shall he do also;
And greater works than these shall he do;
because I go unto my Father.

And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name,
that will I do,
that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

If ye shall ask any thing in my name,
I will do it.

John 14:1-14

I am crucified with Christ;
Nevertheless I live;
Yet not I, but Christ liveth in me;
And the life which I now live in the flesh
I live by the faith of the Son of God,
who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Galatians 2:20

There is therefore now no condemnation
to them which are in Christ Jesus,
who walk not after the flesh,
but after the Spirit.
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus
hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

For what the law could not do,
in that it was weak through the flesh,
God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh,
and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh;

That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us,
who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

For they that are after the flesh
do mind the things of the flesh;
But they that are after the Spirit,
the things of the Spirit.

For to be carnally minded is death;
But to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

Because the carnal mind is enmity against God;
For it is not subject to the law of God,
neither indeed can be.

So then they that are after the flesh
cannot please God.

But ye are not after the flesh, but after the Spirit,
if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you.
Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ,
he is none of his.

And if Christ be in you,
though the body shall die because of sin,
yet the Spirit is life, because of righteousness.

And if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead,
dwell in you,
He that raised up Christ from the dead
shall also quicken your mortal bodies
by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

Therefore, brethren, we are debtors,
not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.

For if ye live after the flesh, unto sin, ye shall die;
But if ye through the Spirit
do mortify the deeds of the body,
ye shall live unto Christ.

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God,
they are the sons of God.

For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear;
But ye have received the Spirit of adoption;
whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit,
that we are the children of God;

And if children, then heirs; heirs of God,
and joint heirs with Christ;
if so be that we suffer with him,
that we may be also glorified together.

Romans 8:1-17

And now Abinadi saith unto them:
I would that ye should understand that God Himself
shall come down among the children of men
and shall redeem His people;

And because He dwelleth in flesh, He shall be called
the Son of God;

And having subjected the flesh to the will of the Father,
being the Father and the Son-
The Father, because He was conceived by the power
of God, and the Son, because of the flesh,
thus becoming the Father and Son,

And They are one God, yea, the Very Eternal Father
of heaven and of earth-

And thus the flesh becoming subject to the Spirit, or the
Son to the Father, being one God, suffereth temptation
and yieldeth not to the temptation,
But suffereth Himself to be mocked and scourged
and cast out and disowned by His people.

And after all this, and after working many mighty
miracles among the children of men, He shall be led,
yea, even as Isaiah said,
“As a sheep before the shearer is dumb,
so He opened not His mouth,”

Yea, even so He shall be led, crucified and slain,
the flesh becoming subject even unto death,
The will of the Son being swallowed up
in the will of the Father.

And thus God breaketh the bands of death,
Having gained the victory over death, giving the Son
power to make intercession for the children of men,

Having ascended into heaven,
Having the bowels of mercy being filled with compassion
toward the children of men,

Standing betwixt them and justice,
Having broken the bands of death, taken upon Himself
their iniquity and their transgressions,
Having redeemed them and satisfied
the demands of justice.

Yea, even so He shall be led, crucified and slain,
the flesh becoming subject even unto death,
The will of the Son being swallowed up
in the will of the Father.

And thus God breaketh the bands of death,
Having gained the victory over death, giving the Son
power to make intercession for the children of men,

Having ascended into heaven,
Having the bowels of mercy being filled with compassion
toward the children of men,

Standing betwixt them and justice,
Having broken the bands of death, taken upon Himself
their iniquity and their transgressions,
Having redeemed them and satisfied
the demands of justice.

Mosiah 8:33-37

Jesus saith unto her,
Hold me not;
for I am not yet ascended to my Father;
But go to my brethren, and say unto them,
I ascend
unto my Father,
and your Father;
and to my God,
and your God.

The Fellowship of Jesus Christ

Grace be unto you, and peace,
from God our Father,
and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

I thank my God always on your behalf,
for the grace of God which is given you of Jesus Christ;

That in everything ye are enriched of him,
in all utterance,
and in all knowledge;

Even as the testimony of Christ
was confirmed in you;

So that ye come behind in no gift;
waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ;

Who shall also confirm you unto the end,
that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

God is faithful, by whom ye were called
unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

I Corinthians 1:3-9

Brethren, this is the testimony which we give
of that which was from the beginning,
which we have heard,
which we have seen with our eyes,
which we have looked upon,
and our hands have handled,
of the Word of life;

(For the life was manifested,
and we have seen it, and bear witness,
and show unto you that eternal life,
which was with the Father,
and was manifested unto us;)

That which we have seen and heard
declare we unto you,
that ye also may have fellowship with us;
and truly our fellowship is with the Father,
and with his Son Jesus Christ.

And these things write we unto you,
that your joy may be full.

This then is the message which we have heard of him,
and declare unto you,
that God is light,
and in him is no darkness at all.

If we say that we have fellowship with him,
and walk in darkness,
we lie, and do not the truth.

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light,
we have fellowship one with another,
and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son
cleanseth us from all sin.

If we say that we have no sin,
we deceive ourselves,
and the truth is not in us.

If we confess our sins,
he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins,
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

If we say that we have not sinned,
we make him a liar,
and his word is not in us.

My little children,
these things write I unto you,
that ye sin not.
But if any man sin and repent,
we have an advocate with the Father,
Jesus Christ the righteous;

And he is the propitiation for our sins;
and not for ours only,
but also for the sins of the whole world.

And hereby we do know that we know him,
if we keep his commandments.

He that saith, I know him,
and keepeth not his commandments,
is a liar,
and the truth is not in him.

But whoso keepeth his word,
in him verily is the love of God perfected;
Hereby know we that we are in him.

He that saith he abideth in him
ought himself also so to walk,
even as he walked.

I John 1:1-2:6

Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss
for the excellency of the knowledge
of Christ Jesus my Lord;
For whom I have suffered the loss of all things,
and do count them but dung,
that I may win Christ,

And be found in him,
Not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law,
But that which is through the faith of Christ,
the righteousness which is of God by faith;

That I may know him,
and the power of his resurrection,
and the fellowship of his sufferings,
Being made conformable unto his death;

If by any means I might attain unto
the resurrection of the just.

Philippians 3:8-11

Hereby perceive we the love of Christ,
because he laid down his life for us;
And we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

But whoso hath this world’s good,
and seeth his brother have need,
and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him,
How dwelleth the love of God in him?

My little children, let us not love in word,
neither in tongue only;
but in deed and in truth.

And hereby we know that we are of the truth,
and shall assure our hearts before him.

For if our heart condemn us,
God is greater than our heart,
and knoweth all things.

Beloved, if our heart condemn us not,
then we have confidence toward God.

And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him,
because we keep his commandments,
and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

And this is his commandment,
That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ,
and love one another,
as he gave us commandment.

And he that keepeth his commandments
dwelleth in him, and he in him.
And hereby we know that he abideth in us,
by the Spirit which he hath given us.

I John 3:16-24

And it came to pass that when the sixty
and second year of the reign of the judges
had ended, all these things had happened;
And the Lamanites had become, the more
part of them, a righteous people,
Insomuch that their righteousness did exceed
that of the Nephites because of their firmness
and their steadiness in the faith.

For behold, there were many of the Nephites which had
become hardened and impenitent and grossly wicked,
Insomuch that they did reject the word of God
and all the preaching and prophesying
which did come among them.

Nevertheless, the people of the church did have great joy
because of the conversion of the Lamanites,
Yea, because of the church of God which
had been established among them;

And they did fellowship one with another and did
rejoice one with another and did have great joy.

And it came to pass that many of the Lamanites
did come down into the Land of Zarahemla,
And did declare unto the people of the Nephites
the manner of their conversion,
And did exhort them to faith and repentance;

Yea, and many did preach with exceeding
great power and authority,
Unto the bringing down many of them into
the depths of humility, to be the humble
followers of God and of the Lamb.

Helaman 2:118-123

Seeing ye have purified your souls
in obeying the truth through the Spirit
unto unfeigned love of the brethren,
See that ye love one another
with a pure heart fervently.

Being born again,
Not of corruptible seed,
but of incorruptible,
By the word of God,
which liveth and abideth forever.

The Foundation of Jesus Christ

O remember, remember, my sons, the words
which King Benjamin spake unto his people;
Yea, remember that there is no other way nor means
whereby man can be saved,
Only through the atoning blood of Jesus Christ,
which shall come;
Yea, remember that He cometh to redeem the world.

And remember also the words which Amulek
spake unto Zeezrom in the City of Ammonihah;
For he said unto him that the Lord surely should come
to redeem His people;
But that He should not come to redeem them in their sins,
But to redeem them from their sins;

And He hath power given unto Him from the Father
to redeem them from their sins because of repentance;
Therefore, He hath sent His angels to declare
the tidings of the conditions of repentance,
Which bringeth unto the power of the Redeemer,
unto the salvation of their souls.

And now my sons, remember, remember that it is
upon the Rock of our Redeemer, which is Christ,
the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation;
That when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds,
yea, his shafts in the whirlwind,

Yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm
shall beat upon you,
It shall have no power over you to drag you down
to the gulf of misery and endless wo,
Because of the Rock upon which ye are built,
which is a sure foundation, a foundation
whereon if men buildeth, they cannot fall.

Helaman 2:71-75

A good man out of the good treasure of his heart,
bringeth forth that which is good.
And an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart,
bringeth forth that which is evil;
For of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

And why call ye me Lord, Lord,
and do not the things which I say?

Whosoever cometh to me,
and heareth my sayings and doeth them,
I will show you to whom he is like.

He is like a man who built a house,
and digged deep,
and laid the foundation on a rock,
and when the flood arose,
the stream beat vehemently upon that house,
and could not shake it;
For it was founded upon a rock.

But he who heareth and doeth not,
is like a man that without a foundation
built a house upon the earth;
against which the stream did beat vehemently,
and immediately it fell;
and the ruin of that house was great.

Luke 6:45-49

According to the grace of God which is given unto me,
as a wise master builder,
I have laid the foundation,
and another buildeth thereon.
But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.

For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid,
which is Jesus Christ.

Now if any man build upon this foundation gold,
silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;

Every man’s work shall be made manifest;
for the day shall declare it,
Because it shall be revealed by fire;
and the fire shall try every man’s work
of what sort it is.

If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon,
he shall receive a reward.

If any man’s work shall be burned,
he shall suffer loss;
but he himself may be saved;
yet so as by fire.

Know ye not that ye are the temple of God,
and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

If any man defile the temple of God,
him shall God destroy;
For the temple of God is holy,
which temple ye are.

I Corinthians 3:10-17

But now, in Christ Jesus,
ye who sometimes were far off
are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

For he is our peace,
who hath made both one,
and hath broken down the middle wall
of partition between us;

Having abolished in his flesh the enmity,
even the law of commandments contained in ordinances;
For to make in himself of twain one new man,
so making peace;

And that he might reconcile both unto God
in one body by the cross,
having slain the enmity thereby;

And came and preached peace to you
which were afar off,
and to them that were nigh.

For through him we both have access
by one Spirit unto the Father.

Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners,
but fellow citizens with the saints,
and of the household of God;

And are built upon the foundation
of the apostles and prophets,
Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone;

In whom all the building fitly framed together
groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord;

In whom ye also are builded together
for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

The Fountain of Jesus Christ

Fools mock, but they shall mourn;
And My grace is sufficient for the meek that they
shall take no advantage of your weakness;
And if men come unto Me,
I will show unto them their weakness;

I give unto men weakness that they may be humble,
And My grace is sufficient for all men
that humble themselves before Me;
For if they humble themselves before Me and have faith
in Me, then will I make weak things
become strong unto them.

Behold, I will show unto the Gentiles their weakness,
And I will show unto them that faith, hope and charity
bringeth unto Me the fountain of all righteousness.

Ether 5:27-29

But the tongue can no man tame;
it is an unruly evil,
full of deadly poison.

Therewith bless we God, even the Father;
And therewith curse we men,
which are made after the similitude of God.

Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing.
My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

Doth a fountain send forth
at the same place sweet water and bitter?

Can the fig tree, my brethren,
bear olive berries? either a vine, figs?
So can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.

Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you?
Let him show out of a good conversation
his works with meekness of wisdom.

But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts,
glory not, and lie not against the truth.

This wisdom descendeth not from above,
but is earthly, sensual, devilish.

For where envying and strife is,
there is confusion and every evil work.

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure,
then peaceable,
gentle,
and easy to be entreated,
full of mercy and good fruits,
without partiality,
and without hypocrisy.

James 3:8-17

And it came to pass that I beheld that the rod of iron
which my father had seen was the word of God which
led to the fountain of living waters, or to the tree of life,
which waters are a representation of the love of God;

And I also beheld that the tree of life was a representation
of the love of God.

And the angel said unto me again:
“Look and behold the Condescension of God.”

And I looked and beheld the Redeemer of the world
of which my father had spoken.

I Nephi 3:68-71

John 15:12-14

The Gift of Jesus Christ

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness,
even so must the Son of Man be lifted up;

That whosoever believeth on him
should not perish, but have eternal life.

For God so loved the world,
that he gave his Only Begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth on him
should not perish;
but have everlasting life.

For God sent not his Son into the world
to condemn the world;
But that the world through him might be saved.

He who believeth on him is not condemned;
But he who believeth not is condemned already,
because he hath not believed on the name
of the Only Begotten Son of God,
which before was preached
by the mouth of the holy prophets;
for they testified of me.

And this is the condemnation,
that light is come into the world,
and men love darkness rather than light,
because their deeds are evil.

For every one who doeth evil hateth the light,
neither cometh to the light,
lest his deeds should be reproved.

But he who loveth truth,
cometh to the light,
that his deeds may be made manifest.

And he who obeyeth the truth,
the works which he doeth they are of God.

John 3:14-22

If ye then, being evil,
know how to give good gifts unto your children,
How much more shall your heavenly Father give good gifts,
through the Holy Spirit, to them who ask him.

Luke 11:14

Now there are diversities of gifts,
but the same Spirit.

And there are differences of administrations,
but the same Lord.

And there are diversities of operations,
but it is the same God which worketh all in all.

But the manifestation of the Spirit
is given to every man to profit withal.

For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom;
To another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;

To another faith by the same Spirit;
to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;

To another the working of miracles;
To another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits;
To another divers kinds of tongues;
To another the interpretation of tongues;

But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit,
dividing to every man severally as he will.

Now ye are the body of Christ,
and members in particular.

And God hath set some in the church,
first apostles,
secondarily prophets,
thirdly teachers,
after that miracles,
then gifts of healings,
helps, governments,
diversities of tongues.

Are all apostles?
Are all prophets?
Are all teachers?
Are all workers of miracles?

Have all the gifts of healing?
Do all speak with tongues?
Do all interpret?

I say unto you, Nay;
for I have shown unto you a more excellent way,
therefore covet earnestly the best gifts.

I Corinthians 12:4-11,27-31

Wherefore, dispute not because ye see not,
For ye receive no witness-not until after
the trial of your faith.

For it was by faith that Christ showed Himself unto
our fathers after that He had risen from the dead;

And He showed not Himself unto them
until after they had faith in Him;
Wherefore, it must needs be that some had faith in Him,
For He showed Himself not unto the world;

But because of the faith of men, He has shown Himself
unto the world and glorified the name of the Father,
And prepared the way that thereby others
might be partakers of the heavenly gift,
That they might hope for those things
which they have not seen;
Wherefore, ye may also have hope and be
partakers of the gift, if ye will but have faith.

Behold, it was by faith that they of old
were called after the holy order of God;
Wherefore, by faith was the law of Moses given.

But in the gift of His Son hath God
prepared a more excellent way,
And it is by faith that it hath been fulfilled;

For if there be no faith among the children of men,
God can do no miracle among them;
Wherefore, He showed not Himself until after their faith.

Ether 5:7-13

But unto every one of us is given grace
according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

Wherefore he saith,
When he ascended up on high,
he led captivity captive,
and gave gifts unto men.

(Now that he ascended,
what is it but that he also descended first
into the lower parts of the earth?

He who descended,
is the same also who ascended up into heaven,
to glorify him who reigneth over all heavens,
that he might fill all things.)

And he gave
some, apostles;
and some, prophets;
and some, evangelists;
and some, pastors and teachers;

For the perfecting of the saints,
For the work of the ministry,
For the edifying of the body of Christ;

Till we, in the unity of the faith,
all come to the knowledge of the Son of God,
unto a perfect man, unto the measure
of the stature of the fullness of Christ;

That we henceforth be no more children,
tossed to and fro,
and carried about with every wind of doctrine,
by the sleight of men,
and cunning craftiness,
whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

But speaking the truth in love,
may grow up into him in all things,
which is the head,
even Christ;

From whom the whole body fitly joined together
and compacted by that which every joint supplieth,
according to the effectual working in the measure
of every part,
maketh increase of the body
unto the edifying of itself in love.

Ephesians 4:7-16

And again I exhort you, my brethren, that ye deny not
the gifts of God,
for they are many
and they come from the same God;

And there are different ways
that these gifts are administered,
But it is the same God which worketh all in all;
And they are given by the manifestations of the Spirit
of God unto men to profit them.

For behold, to one is given by the Spirit of God,
that he may teach the word of wisdom;
And to another, that he may teach the
word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
And to another, exceeding great faith;
And to another, the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;

And again, to another, that he may work mighty miracles;
And again, to another, that he may prophesy
concerning all things;
And again, to another, the beholding of angels
and ministering spirits;
And again, to another, all kinds of tongues;
And again, to another, the interpretation of languages
and of divers kinds of tongues.

And all these gifts come by the Spirit of Christ;
And they come unto every man severally,
according as He will.

And again, I would exhort you that ye would
come unto Christ and lay hold upon every good gift
and touch not the evil gift, nor the unclean thing!

The Glory of Jesus Christ

I glory in plainness!
I glory in truth!
I glory in my Jesus, for He hath
redeemed my soul from hell!

I have charity for my people,
And great faith in Christ that I shall meet
many souls spotless at His judgment seat.

I have charity for the Jew – I say Jew because
I mean them from whence I came;
I also have charity for the Gentiles;

But behold, for none of these I cannot hope,
except they shall be reconciled unto Christ,
And enter into the narrow gate and walk
in the strait path which leads to life,
And continue in the path until
the end of the day of probation.

And now my beloved brethren, and also Jew
and all ye ends of the earth,
Hearken unto these words and believe in Christ;
And if ye believe not in these words, believe in Christ;

And if ye shall believe in Christ, ye will believe
in these words, for they are the words of Christ
and He hath given them unto me;
And they teach all men that they should do good.

And if they are not the words of Christ, judge ye,
For Christ will show unto you with power and great glory
that they are His words at the last day;

And you and I shall stand face to face before His bar,
And ye shall know that I have been commanded of Him
to write these things, notwithstanding my weakness.

II Nephi 15:7-14

And I speak them unto you for your sakes, that
ye may learn and glorify the name of your God.

II Nephi 5:12

And now my son, I have told you this
that ye might learn wisdom,
That ye may learn of me that there is no other way
nor means whereby man can be saved –
Only in and through Christ –

Behold, He is the life and the light of the world;
Behold, He is the word of truth and righteousness.

Alma 18:11,12

And the same word was made flesh,
and dwelt among us,
And we beheld his glory,
the glory as of the Only Begotten of the Father,
full of grace and truth.

John bear witness of him, and cried, saying,
This is he of whom I spake;
He who cometh after me,
is preferred before me;
For he was before me.

For in the beginning was the Word,
even the Son,
who is made flesh,
and sent unto us by the will of the Father.
And as many as believe on his name
shall receive of his fullness.
And of his fullness have all we received,
even immortality and eternal life,
through his grace.

John 1:14-16

To whom God would make known
what is the riches of the glory
of this mystery among the Gentiles;
Which is Christ in you,
the hope of glory;

Whom we preach, warning every man,
and teaching every man in all wisdom;
That we may present every man perfect
in Christ Jesus;

Whereunto I also labor,
striving according to his working,
which worketh in me mightily.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ;
For it is the power of God unto salvation
to every one that believeth;
to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

For therein is the righteousness of God revealed
through faith on his name;
As it is written,
The just shall live by faith.

Romans 1:16,17

For our gospel came not unto you in word only,
but also in power,
and in the Holy Ghost,
and in much assurance;
As ye know what manner of men we were among you
for your sake.

I Thessalonians 1:5

For this cause also thank we God without ceasing,
Because, when ye received the word of God
which ye heard of us,
Ye received it not as the word of men,
but, as it is in truth, the word of God,
which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

I Thessalonians 2:13

And the same word was made flesh,
and dwelt among us,
And we beheld his glory,
the glory as of the Only Begotten of the Father,
full of grace and truth.

John bear witness of him, and cried, saying,
This is he of whom I spake;
He who cometh after me,
is preferred before me;
For he was before me.

For in the beginning was the Word,
even the Son,
who is made flesh,
and sent unto us by the will of the Father.
And as many as believe on his name
shall receive of his fullness.
And of his fullness have all we received,
even immortality and eternal life,
through his grace.

John 1:14-16

And verily, verily I say unto thee,
He that receiveth My gospel, receiveth Me;
and he that receiveth not My gospel, receiveth not Me.

And this is My gospel:
repentance and baptism by water,
And then cometh the baptism of fire and the Holy Ghost,
even the Comforter,
which showeth all things, and
teacheth the peaceable things of the kingdom.

D&C 39:2a,b

And the firstfruits of repentance is baptism,
And baptism cometh by faith,
unto the fulfilling the commandments,
And the fulfilling the commandments
bringeth remission of sins,
And the remission of sins
bringeth meekness and lowliness of heart,
And because of meekness and lowliness of heart
cometh the visitation of the Holy Ghost,
Which Comforter filleth with hope and perfect love,
Which love endureth by diligence unto prayer, until the
end shall come when all the saints shall dwell with God.

Moroni 8:29

Behold, I have given unto you My gospel,
And this is the gospel which I have given unto you –
That I came into the world to do the will of My Father
because My Father sent Me;
And My Father sent Me that I might
be lifted up upon the cross;
And after that I had been lifted up upon the cross,
I might draw all men unto Me;
That as I have been lifted up by men, even so should men
be lifted up by the Father to stand before Me
to be judged of their works, whether they
be good or whether they be evil;
And for this cause have I been lifted up;
Therefore, according to the power of the Father,
I will draw all men unto Me, that they may
be judged according to their works.

And it shall come to pass that whoso repenteth
and is baptized in My name shall be filled;
And if he endureth to the end,
Behold, him will I hold guiltless before My Father
at that day when I shall stand to judge the world;
And he that endureth not unto the end,
The same is he that is also hewn down and cast
into the fire from whence they can no more return
because of the justice of the Father.

And this is the word which He hath given
unto the children of men;
And for this cause He fulfilleth the words
which He hath given,
And He lieth not, but fulfilleth all His words;
And no unclean thing can enter into His kingdom;
Therefore, nothing entereth into His rest,
Save it be those who have washed their garments in
My blood because of their faith and the repentance
of all their sins and their faithfulness unto the end.

Now this is the commandment:
Repent, all ye ends of the earth!
and come unto Me!
and be baptized in My name!
That ye may be sanctified by the reception
of the Holy Ghost,
That ye may stand spotless before Me at the last day!

Verily, verily I say unto you, this is My gospel.

And ye know the things that ye must do in My church,
For the works which ye have seen Me do,
that shall ye also do;
For that which ye have seen Me do, even that shall ye do;
Therefore, if ye do these things, blessed are ye,
For ye shall be lifted up at the last day.

The Grace of Jesus Christ

I give unto men weakness that they may be humble,
And My grace is sufficient for all men
that humble themselves before Me;
For if they humble themselves before Me
and have faith in Me,
Then will I make weak things
become strong unto them.

Ether 5:28

Humble yourselves therefore
under the mighty hand of God,
that he may exalt you in due time.

Casting all your care upon him;
For he careth for you.

I Peter 5:6,7

I am the vine, ye are the branches.
He that abideth in me, and I in him,
the same bringeth forth much fruit;
For without me ye can do nothing.

If a man abide not in me,
he is cast forth as a branch,
and is withered;
and men gather them,
and cast them into the fire,
and they are burned.

If ye abide in me,
and my words abide in you,
ye shall ask what ye will,
and it shall be done unto you.

Herein is my Father glorified,
that ye bear much fruit;
so shall ye be my disciples.

John 15:5-8

Therefore, cheer up your hearts,
And remember that ye are free to act for yourselves –
to choose the way of everlasting death,
or the way of eternal life;

Wherefore my beloved brethren, reconcile yourselves to the
will of God and not to the will of the devil and the flesh.

And remember, that after ye are reconciled unto God,
That it is only in and through the grace of God
that ye are saved…

II Nephi 7:40-42

For we know that it is by grace that we are saved,
after all that we can do.

II Nephi 11:44

For it was all we could do to repent sufficiently
before God that He would take away our stain…

Alma 14:33b

But God, who is rich in mercy,
for his great love wherewith he loved us,

Even when we were dead in sins,
hath quickened us together with Christ,
(by grace ye are saved;)

And hath raised us up together,
and made us sit together in heavenly places
in Christ Jesus;

That in the ages to come
he might show the exceeding riches of his grace,
in his kindness toward us,
through Christ Jesus.

For by grace are ye saved through faith;
and that not of yourselves;
but it is the gift of God;

Not of works, lest any man should boast.

For we are his workmanship,
created in Christ Jesus unto good works,
which God hath before ordained
that we should walk in them.

Ephesians 2:4-10

Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down,
and strengthen the feeble knees;

And make straight paths for your feet,
lest that which is lame be turned out of the way;
but let it rather be healed.

Follow peace with all men, and holiness,
without which no man shall see the Lord;

Looking diligently
lest any man fail of the grace of God;
lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you,
and thereby many be defiled;

Lest there be any fornicator,
or profane person, as Esau,
who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.

The Hope of Jesus Christ

And again, my beloved brethren,
I would speak unto you concerning hope;

How is it that ye can attain unto faith,
save ye shall have hope?
And what is it that ye shall hope for?

Behold, I say unto you that ye shall have hope
through the atonement of Christ
and the power of His resurrection
to be raised unto life eternal,
And this because of your faith in Him
according to the promise;

Wherefore, if a man have faith,
he must needs have hope;
For without faith, there cannot be any hope.

Moroni 7:45-48

Therefore being justified by faith,
we have peace with God
through our Lord Jesus Christ;

By whom also we have access by faith
into this grace wherein we stand,
and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

And not only this,
but we glory in tribulations also;
knowing that tribulation worketh patience;

And patience, experience;
and experience, hope;

And hope maketh not ashamed;
because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts
by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

For when we were yet without strength,
in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

Romans 5:1-6

For the creature was made subject
to tribulation not willingly,
But by reason of him who hath subjected it in hope;

Because the creature itself also shall
be delivered from the bondage of corruption
into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

For we know that the whole creation groaneth
and travaileth in pain together until now.

And not only they, but ourselves also,
which have the firstfruits of the Spirit,
even we ourselves groan within ourselves,
waiting for the adoption,
To wit, the redemption of our body.

For we are saved by hope;
But hope that is seen is not hope;
For what a man seeth,
why doth he yet hope for?

But if we hope for that we see not,
then with patience we do wait for it.

Romans 8:20-25

Wherefore, Thou workest after that men have faith;
For thus did Thou manifest Thyself unto Thy disciples,

For after that they had faith and did speak in Thy name,
Thou didst show Thyself unto them in great power;
And I also rememberest that Thou hast said that
Thou hast prepared a house for man, yea, even
among the mansions of Thy Father, in the which
man might have a more excellent hope;
Wherefore, man must hope, or he cannot receive an
inheritance in the place which Thou hast prepared.

Ether 5:31b,32

And now my brethren, I wish from the inmost part
of my heart, yea, with great anxiety even unto pain,
That ye would hearken unto my words and cast off your
sins and not procrastinate the day of your repentance;

But that ye would humble yourselves before the Lord and
call on His holy name and watch and pray continually,
That ye may not be tempted above that which ye can bear;
And thus be led by the Holy Spirit,
becoming humble, meek, submissive, patient,
full of love and all longsuffering,
having faith on the Lord,

having a hope that ye shall receive eternal life,
having the love of God always in your hearts,
That ye may be lifted up at the last day
and enter into His rest.

Alma 10:27-29

And now, I would that ye should be humble,
and be submissive and gentle,
easy to be entreated,
full of patience and longsuffering,
Being temperate in all things,
Being diligent in keeping the commandments of God
at all times,

Asking for whatsoever things ye stand in need,
both spiritual and temporal,
Always returning thanks unto God
for whatsoever things ye do receive;
And see that ye have faith, hope and charity,
And then ye will always abound in good works.

Alma 5:39-41

Think of your brethren like unto yourselves and
be familiar with all and free with your substance,
that they may be rich like unto you;

But before ye seek for riches,
seek ye for the kingdom of God;

And after that ye have obtained a hope in Christ,
ye shall obtain riches-if ye seek them,
And ye will seek them for the intent to do good:
to clothe the naked,
and to feed the hungry,
and to liberate the captive,
and administer relief to the sick and the afflicted.

Jacob 2:22-24

And it came to pass that after Aaron had expounded
these things unto him, the king saith:
“What shall I do that I may have this eternal life
of which thou hast spoken?

Yea, what shall I do that I may be born of God,
having this wicked spirit rooted out of my breast,
And receive His Spirit, that I may be filled with joy,
that I may not be cast off at the last day?”

Behold, saith he:
“I will give up all that I possess;
Yea, I will forsake my kingdom
that I may receive this great joy.”

But Aaron saith unto him:
“If thou desirest this thing, if thou will bow down
before God,
Yea, if thou repent of all thy sins and will bow down
before God and call on His name in faith,
believing that ye shall receive,
Then shalt thou receive the hope which thou desirest.”

And it came to pass that when Aaron had said
these words, the king did bow down
before the Lord upon his knees,
Yea, even he did prostrate himself upon the earth
and cried mightily, saying:
“O God, Aaron hath told me that there is a God;

And if there is a God and if Thou art God,
wilt Thou make Thyself known unto me?
And I will give away all my sins to know Thee
and that I may be raised from the dead
and be saved at the last day!”

Alma 13:48-53

Now the God of hope
fill you with all joy and peace in believing,
That ye may abound in hope,
through the power of the Holy Ghost.

Romans 15:13

Now the God of peace,
that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus,
that great Shepherd of the sheep,
through the blood of the everlasting covenant,

Make you perfect in every good work to do his will,
working in you that which is well pleasing in his sight,
through Jesus Christ;
To whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

The Invitation of Jesus Christ

Then spake Jesus, saying,
Come unto me,
all ye that labor and are heavy laden,
and I will give you rest.

Take my yoke upon you,
and learn of me;
For I am meek and lowly in heart;
and ye shall find rest unto your souls;
For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

Matthew 11:29,30

Yea, come unto Christ and be perfected in Him
and deny yourselves of all ungodliness,
And if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness and
love God with all your might, mind and strength,
Then is His grace sufficient for you,
that by His grace ye may be perfect in Christ;
And if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ,
ye can in no wise deny the power of God.

And again, if ye by the grace of God are perfect in Christ
and deny not His power,
Then are ye sanctified in Christ by the grace of God
through the shedding of the blood of Christ,
Which is in the covenant of the Father unto the remission
of your sins, that ye become holy without spot.

The Instruction of Jesus Christ

If ye love me, keep my commandments.

And I will pray the Father,
and he shall give you another Comforter,
that he may abide with you forever;

Even the Spirit of truth;
whom the world cannot receive,
because it seeth him not,
neither knoweth him;
but ye know him;
For he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

I will not leave you comfortless;
I will come to you.

Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more;
but ye see me; because I live, ye shall live also.

At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father,
and ye in me, and I in you.

He that hath my commandments,
and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me;
and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father,
and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

If a man love me, he will keep my words;
and my Father will love him,
and we will come unto him,
and make our abode with him.

He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings;
and the word which ye hear is not mine,
but the Father’s which sent me.

These things have I spoken unto you,
being yet present with you.

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost,
whom the Father will send in my name,
He shall teach you all things,
and bring all things to your remembrance,
whatsoever I have said unto you.

Peace I leave with you,
my peace I give unto you;
not as the world giveth, give I unto you.
Let not your heart be troubled,
neither let it be afraid.

John 14:15-27

For evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse,
deceiving, and being deceived.

But continue thou in the things
which thou hast learned and hast been assured of,
knowing of whom thou hast learned them;

And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures,
which are able to make thee wise unto salvation
through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

And all scripture given by inspiration of God,
is profitable for doctrine,
for reproof,
for correction,
for instruction in righteousness;

That the man of God may be perfect,
thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

II Timothy 3:13-17

Marvel not that I said unto you
that old things had passed away
and that all things had become new –
Behold, I say unto you that the law is fulfilled
that was given unto Moses;

Behold, I Am He that gave the law,
And I Am He which covenanted with My people Israel;
Therefore, the law in Me is fulfilled,
For I have come to fulfill the law,
Therefore, it hath an end.

Behold, I do not destroy the prophets,
For as many as have not been fulfilled in Me,
verily I say unto you, shall all be fulfilled;

And because I said unto you
that old things hath passed away,
I do not destroy that which hath been spoken
concerning things which are to come;

For behold, the covenants
which I have made with My people
is not all fulfilled,
But the law which was given unto Moses
hath an end in Me.

Behold, I Am the law and the light;
Look unto Me and endure to the end and ye shall live,
For unto him that endureth to the end
will I give eternal life.

Behold, I have given unto you the commandments,
Therefore, keep My commandments –

And this is the law and the prophets,
for they truly testify of Me.

The Intercession of Jesus Christ

And now Abinadi saith unto them:
I would that ye should understand that God Himself
shall come down among the children of men
and shall redeem His people;

And because He dwelleth in flesh, He shall be called
the Son of God;

And having subjected the flesh to the will of the Father,
being the Father and the Son-
The Father, because He was conceived by the power
of God, and the Son, because of the flesh,
thus becoming the Father and Son,

And They are one God, yea, the Very Eternal Father
of heaven and of earth-

And thus the flesh becoming subject to the Spirit, or the
Son to the Father, being one God, suffereth temptation
and yieldeth not to the temptation,
But suffereth Himself to be mocked and scourged
and cast out and disowned by His people.

And after all this, and after working many mighty
miracles among the children of men, He shall be led,
yea, even as Isaiah said,
“As a sheep before the shearer is dumb,
so He opened not His mouth,”

Yea, even so He shall be led, crucified and slain,
the flesh becoming subject even unto death,
The will of the Son being swallowed up
in the will of the Father.

And thus God breaketh the bands of death,
Having gained the victory over death, giving the Son
power to make intercession for the children of men,

Having ascended into heaven,
Having the bowels of mercy being filled with compassion
toward the children of men,

Standing betwixt them and justice,
Having broken the bands of death, taken upon Himself
their iniquity and their transgressions,
Having redeemed them and satisfied
the demands of justice.

Mosiah 8:33-37

… this man,
because he continueth ever,
hath an unchangeable priesthood.

Wherefore he is able also
to save them to the uttermost
that come unto God by him,
seeing he ever liveth
to make intercession for them.

Hebrews 7:23,24

Wherefore, redemption cometh
in and through the Holy Messiah,
For He is full of grace and truth;

Behold, He offereth Himself a sacrifice for sin
to answer the ends of the law unto all those
which have a broken heart and a contrite spirit,
And unto none else can the ends of the law be answered.

Wherefore, how great the importance to make these
things known unto the inhabitants of the earth,
That they may know that there is no flesh that can dwell
in the presence of God, save it be through the merits
and mercy and grace of the Holy Messiah,

Which layeth down His life, according to the flesh,
and taketh it again, by the power of the Spirit,

That He may bring to pass the resurrection of the dead,
being the first that should rise.

Wherefore, He is the firstfruits unto God, inasmuch as
He shall make intercession for all the children of men;

And they that believe in Him shall be saved;

And because of the intercession for all,
all men cometh unto God;
Wherefore, they stand in the presence of Him,
to be judged of Him according to the truth
and holiness which is in Him.

Wherefore, the ends of the law which the Holy One
hath given-unto the inflicting of the punishment,
which is affixed,
Which punishment that is affixed is in opposition
to that of the happiness, which is affixed –
to answer the ends of the atonement.

The Liberty of Jesus Christ

Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him,
If ye continue in my word,
then are ye my disciples indeed;

And ye shall know the truth,
and the truth shall make you free.

They answered him,
We be Abraham’s seed,
and were never in bondage to any man;
How sayest thou, ye shall be made free?

Jesus answered them,
Verily, verily, I say unto you,
Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

And the servant abideth not in the house for ever,
but the Son abideth ever.

If the Son therefore shall make you free,
ye shall be free indeed.

John 8:31-36

Now the Lord is that Spirit;
and where the Spirit of the Lord is,
there is liberty.

II Corinthians 3:17

…the Nephites were inspired by a better cause,
For they were not fighting for monarchy nor power,
But they were fighting for their homes and their liberties,
their wives and their children and their all,
yea, for their rights of worship and their church;

And they were doing that which they felt it was the duty
which they owed to their God,
For the Lord had said unto them, and also
unto their fathers that,
“Inasmuch as ye are not guilty of the first offense,
neither the second,
Ye shall not suffer yourselves to be slain
by the hands of your enemies.”

And again, the Lord hath said that,
“Ye shall defend your families even unto bloodshed,”
Therefore, for this cause were the Nephites
contending with the Lamanites-
To defend themselves and their families and their lands,
their country and their rights and their religion.

And it came to pass that when the men of Moroni
saw the fierceness and the anger of the Lamanites,
they were about to shrink and flee from them;

And Moroni, perceiving their intent, sent forth
and inspired their hearts with these thoughts –
yea, the thoughts of their lands, their liberty,
yea, their freedom from bondage.

And it came to pass that they turned upon the Lamanites,
And they cried with one voice unto the Lord their God
for their liberty and their freedom from bondage;

And they began to stand against the Lamanites with power;
And in the selfsame hour that they cried unto the Lord for
their freedom, the Lamanites began to flee before them,
And they fled even to the waters of Sidon.

Alma 20:50-56

And now it came to pass that when Moroni,
which was the chief commander of the armies
of the Nephites, had heard of these dissensions,
he was angry with Amalickiah.

And it came to pass that he rent his coat,
And he took a piece thereof and wrote upon it –
“In memory of our God,
our religion and freedom and our peace,
our wives and our children” –
And he fastened it upon the end of a pole thereof;

And he fastened on his headplate and his breastplate
and his shields and girded on his armor about his loins,
And he took the pole which had on the end thereof
his rent coat and he called it the title of liberty.

And he bowed himself to the earth,
And he prayed mightily unto his God for the blessings of
liberty to rest upon his brethren, so long as there should
a band of Christians remain to possess the land –

For thus were all the true believers of Christ which
belonged to the church of God called by those
who did not belong to the church,
And those who did belong to the church were faithful,

Yea, all those who were true believers in Christ
took upon them gladly the name of Christ,
or Christians, as they were called, because
of their belief in Christ, which should come –
And therefore, at this time, Moroni prayed that
the cause of the Christians and the freedom
of the land might be favored.

The Lordship of Jesus Christ

And I saw heaven opened,
and behold a white horse;
and he that sat upon him is called Faithful and True,
and in righteousness he doth judge and make war;

His eyes as a flame of fire;
and he had on his head many crowns;
and a name written, that no man knew, but himself.

And he is clothed with a vesture dipped in blood;
And his name is called The Word of God.

And the armies which were in heaven
followed him upon white horses,
clothed in fine linen, white and clean.

And out of his mouth proceedeth the word of God,
And with it he will smite the nations;
And he will rule them with the word of his mouth;
And he treadeth the winepress
in the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

And he hath on a vesture,
and on his thigh a name written,
KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

Revelation 19:11-16

For behold, the time cometh and is not far distant,
that with power the Lord Omnipotent who reigneth,
which was and is from all eternity to all eternity,
Shall come down from heaven among the children of men,
And shall dwell in a tabernacle of clay,

And shall go forth amongst men,
Working mighty miracles, such as –
healing the sick,
raising the dead,
causing the lame to walk,
the blind to receive their sight,
and the deaf to hear,
and curing all manner of diseases;

And He shall cast out devils, or the evil spirits,
which dwelleth in the hearts of the children of men.

And lo, He shall suffer temptations and pain of body,
hunger, thirst and fatigue, even more than man
can suffer, except it be unto death;

For behold, blood cometh from every pore, so great
shall be His anguish for the wickedness
and the abominations of His people.

And He shall be called Jesus Christ, the Son of God,
the Father of heaven and of earth, the Creator
of all things from the beginning;
And His mother shall be called Mary;

And lo, He cometh unto His own that salvation
might come unto the children of men,
even through faith on His name.

And even after all this, they shall consider Him
as a man and say that He hath a devil,
And shall scourge Him and shall crucify Him,

And He shall rise the third day from the dead;
And behold, He standeth to judge the world.

And behold, all these things are done that a righteous
judgment might come upon the children of men.

For behold, and also His blood atoneth for the sins of
those who have fallen by the transgression of Adam,
who hath died not knowing the will of God concerning
them and who have ignorantly sinned.

But wo, wo unto him who knoweth
that he rebelleth against God!
For salvation cometh to none such, except it be through
repentance and faith on the Lord Jesus Christ.

And the Lord God hath sent His holy prophets among
all the children of men to declare these things
to every kindred, nation and tongue,
That thereby whosoever should believe that Christ should
come, the same might receive remission of their sins
and rejoice with exceeding great joy, even as though
He had already come among them.
Yet the Lord God saw that His people
were a stiff-necked people and He appointed
unto them a law, even the law of Moses.

And many signs and wonders and types and shadows
showed He unto them concerning His coming;

And also holy prophets spake unto them
concerning His coming,

And yet they hardened their hearts and understood not
that the law of Moses availeth nothing, except
it were through the atonement of His blood.

And even if it were possible that little children could sin,
they could not be saved;
But I say unto you, they are blessed;

For behold, as in Adam, or by nature, they fall,
even so the blood of Christ atoneth for their sins.

And moreover, I say unto you that there shall be no other
name given, nor no other way nor means whereby
salvation can come unto the children of men –
Only in and through the name of Christ,
the Lord Omnipotent.

For behold, He judgeth and His judgment is just,
And the infant perisheth not that dieth in his infancy;

But men drinketh damnation to their own souls, except
they humble themselves and become as little children,
And believeth that salvation was and is and is to come,
in and through the atoning blood of Christ,
the Lord Omnipotent.

For the natural man is an enemy to God and has been
from the fall of Adam and will be forever and ever,

But if [unless] he yieldeth to the enticings of the Holy Spirit
and putteth off the natural man –
And he becometh a saint through the atonement
of Christ the Lord,

And becometh as a child-submissive,
meek, humble, patient, full of love,
Willing to submit to all things which the Lord
seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child
doth submit to his father.

And moreover I say unto you, that the time shall come
when the knowledge of a Savior shall spread through –
out every nation, kindred, tongue and people;

And behold, when that time cometh, none shall be found
blameless before God, except it be little children,
Only through repentance and faith on the name
of the Lord God Omnipotent.

The Love of Jesus Christ

In this was manifested the love of God toward us,
Because that God sent his only begotten Son
into the world,
that we might live through him.

Herein is love, not that we loved God,
but that he loved us,
and sent his son
to be the propitiation for our sins.

Beloved, if God so loved us,
we ought also to love one another.

No man hath seen God at any time,
except them who believe.
If we love one another,
God dwelleth in us,
and his love is perfected in us.

Hereby know we that we dwell in him,
and he in us,
because he hath given us of his Spirit.

And we have seen and do testify
that the Father sent the Son
to be the Savior of the world.

Whosoever shall confess
that Jesus is the Son of God,
God dwelleth in him, and he in God.

And we have known and believed the love
that God hath to us.
God is love;
and he that dwelleth in love
dwelleth in God, and God in him.

Herein is our love made perfect,
that we may have boldness
in the day of judgment;
Because as he is,
so are we in this world.

There is no fear in love;
but perfect love casteth out fear;
Because fear hath torment.
He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

I John 4:9-18

And hope maketh not ashamed;
Because the love of God
is shed abroad in our hearts
by the Holy Ghost
which is given unto us.

For when we were yet without strength,
in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

For scarcely for a righteous man will one die;
Yet peradventure for a good man
some would even dare to die.

But God commendeth his love toward us,
in that, while we were yet sinners,
Christ died for us.

Romans 5:5-8

Behold, I say unto you that ye shall have hope
through the atonement of Christ and the power
of His resurrection to be raised unto life eternal,
And this because of your faith in Him
according to the promise;

Wherefore, if a man have faith, he must needs have hope;
For without faith, there cannot be any hope.

And again, behold, I say unto you that he cannot have faith
and hope, save he shall be meek and lowly of heart;
If so, his faith and hope are vain,
For none is acceptable before God,
save the meek and lowly of heart;

And if a man be meek and lowly in heart and confesses
by the power of the Holy Ghost that Jesus is the Christ,
he must needs have charity;
For if he have not charity, he is nothing;
Wherefore, he must needs have charity –

And charity suffereth long,
and is kind and envieth not,
and is not puffed up,
seeketh not her own,
is not easily provoked,
thinketh no evil,
and rejoiceth not in iniquity,
but rejoiceth in the truth,
beareth all things,
believeth all things,
hopeth all things,
endureth all things-

Wherefore, my beloved brethren, if ye have not charity
ye are nothing, for charity never faileth;

Wherefore, cleave unto charity,
which is the greatest of all,
for all things must fail;
But charity is the pure love of Christ,
And it endureth forever;
And whoso is found possessed of it at the last day,
it shall be well with them.

Wherefore, my beloved brethren, pray unto the Father
with all the energy of heart,
That ye may be filled with this love which He
hath bestowed upon all who are true followers
of His Son Jesus Christ,
That ye may become the sons of God,
That when He shall appear, we shall be like Him –
for we shall see Him as He is-
That we may have this hope,
That we may be purified even as He is pure. Amen.

Moroni 7:47-53

And also see that ye bridle all your passions,
That ye may be filled with love…

Alma 18:15a

Therefore owe no man anything,
but to love one another;
For he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.

For this,
Thou shalt not commit adultery,
Thou shalt not kill,
Thou shalt not steal,
Thou shalt not bear false witness,
Thou shalt not covet;
And if there be any other commandment,
it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely,
Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

Love worketh no ill to his neighbor;
therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

And that, knowing the time,
that now it is high time to awake out of sleep;
for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

The night is far spent,
the day is at hand;
Let us therefore cast off the works of darkness,
and let us put on the armor of light.

Let us walk honestly, as in the day;
not in rioting and drunkenness,
not in chambering and wantonness,
not in strife and envying.

But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ,
and make not provision for the flesh,
to gratify the lusts thereof.

The Mediation of Jesus Christ

Wherefore then, the law was added because of transgressions,
till the seed should come to whom the promise
was made in the law given to Moses,
who was ordained by the hand of angels
to be a mediator of this first covenant, (the law.)

Now this mediator was not a mediator of the new covenant;
but there is one mediator of the new covenant, who is Christ,
as it is written in the law concerning the promises
made to Abraham and his seed.
Now Christ is the mediator of life;
for this is the promise which God made unto Abraham.

Galatians 3:19,20

I exhort therefore, that, first of all,
supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving thanks,
be made for all men;

For kings, and for all that are in authority;
that we may lead a quiet and peaceful life
in all godliness and honesty.

For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior;

Who is willing to have all men to be saved,
and to come unto the knowledge of the truth
which is in Christ Jesus,
who is the Only Begotten Son of God,
and ordained to be a Mediator between God and man;
who is one God, and hath power over all men.

For there is one God,
and one mediator between God and men,
the man Christ Jesus;

Who gave himself a ransom for all,
to be testified in due time.

The Mind of Jesus Christ

If there be therefore any consolation in Christ,
if any comfort of love,
if any fellowship of the Spirit,
if any bowels and mercies,

Fulfill ye my joy, that ye be like-minded,
having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory;
But in lowliness of mind
let each esteem other better than themselves.

Look not every man on his own things,
but every man also on the things of others.

Let this mind be in you,
which was also in Christ Jesus;

Who, being in the form of God,
thought it not robbery to be equal with God;

But made himself of no reputation,
and took upon him the form of a servant,
and was made in the likeness of men;

And being found in fashion as a man,
he humbled himself,
and became obedient unto death,
even the death of the cross.

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him,
and given him a name
which is above every name;

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
of things in heaven,
and things in earth,
and things under the earth;

And that every tongue should confess
that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

Wherefore, my beloved,
as ye have always obeyed,
not as in my presence only,
but now much more in my absence,
Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;

For it is God which worketh in you
both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

Do all things without murmurings and disputings;

That ye may be blameless and harmless,
the sons of God, without rebuke,
in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation,
among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

Holding forth the word of life …

Philippians 2:1-16

For what man knoweth the things of a man,
save the spirit of man which is in him?
Even so the things of God knoweth no man,
except he has the Spirit of God.

Now we have received, not the spirit of the world,
but the Spirit which is of God;
That we might know the things
that are freely given to us of God.

Which things also we speak,
not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth,
but which the Holy Ghost teacheth;
comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

But the natural man receiveth not
the things of the Spirit of God;
for they are foolishness unto him;
neither can he know them,
because they are spiritually discerned.

But he that is spiritual judgeth all things,
yet he himself is judged of no man.

For who hath known the mind of the Lord,
that he may instruct him?
But we have the mind of Christ.

I Corinthians 2:11-16

And the Lord called his people, Zion,
because they were of one heart and of one mind,
and dwelt in righteousness;
and there were no poor among them.

Genesis 7:23

Arise from the dust, my sons, and be men!
And be determined in one mind and in one heart,
united in all things,
That ye may not come down into captivity,
That ye may not be cursed with a sore cursing,

And also that ye may not incur the displeasure
of a just God upon you unto the destruction,
yea, the eternal destruction of both soul and body.

Awake, my sons!
Put on the armor of righteousness…

The Name of Jesus Christ>

And he said, Hear ye now, O house of David;
Is it a small thing for you to weary men,
but will ye weary my God also?

Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign;
Behold, a virgin shall conceive,
and shall bear a son,
and shall call his name Immanuel.

Butter and honey shall he eat,
that he may know to refuse the evil,
and to choose the good.

For before the child shall know to refuse the evil,
and choose the good,
The land that thou abhorrest shall be forsaken of both her kings.

Isaiah 7:13-16

Now, as it is written,
The birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise.
After his mother, Mary, was espoused to Joseph,
before they came together
she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

Then Joseph, her husband,
being a just man,
and not willing to make her a public example,
was minded to put her away privily.

But while he thought on there things, behold,
the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a vision,
saying, Joseph, thou son of David,
Fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife;
for that which is conceived in her,
is of the Holy Ghost.

And she shall bring forth a son,
And thou shalt call his name Jesus;
For he shall save his people from their sins.

Now this took place,
that all things might be fulfilled,
which were spoken of the Lord,
by the prophets, saying,

Behold, a virgin shall be with child,
and shall bring forth a son,
and they shall call his name Emmanuel,
(which, being interpreted, is, God with us.)

Then Joseph, awaking out of his vision,
did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him,
and took unto him his wife;

And knew her not until she had
brought forth her first-born son;
and they called his name Jesus.

Matthew 2:1-8

For unto us a child is born,
Unto us a son is given;
And the government shall be upon his shoulder;
And his name shall be called
Wonderful, Counselor,
The mighty God,
The everlasting Father,
The Prince of Peace.

Of the increase of his government and peace
there is no end,
Upon the throne of David,
and upon his kingdom,
to order it,
And to establish it with judgment
and with justice
from henceforth even forever.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.

Isaiah 9:6,7

And being found in fashion as a man,
he [Jesus] humbled himself,
and became obedient unto death,
even the death of the cross.

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him,
and given him a name which is above every name;

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
of things in heaven,
and things in earth,
and things under the earth;

And that every tongue should confess that
Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

Philippians 2:8-11

This is the stone which was set at naught of you builders,
which is become the the head of the corner.

Neither is there salvation in any other;
For there is none other name under heaven given among men,
whereby we must be saved.

Acts 4:11,12

And moreover, I say unto you that there shall be no other
name given, nor no other way nor means whereby
salvation can come unto the children of men –
Only in and through the name of Christ,
the Lord Omnipotent.

Mosiah 1:116

“O remember, remember, my sons, the words
which King Benjamin spake unto his people;
Yea, remember that there is no other way nor means
whereby man can be saved,
Only through the atoning blood of Jesus Christ,
which shall come;
Yea, remember that He cometh to redeem the world.

“And remember also the words which Amulek
spake unto Zeezrom in the City of Ammonihah;
For he said unto him that the Lord surely should come
to redeem His people;
But that He should not come to redeem them in their sins,
But to redeem them from their sins;

And He hath power given unto Him from the Father
to redeem them from their sins because of repentance;
Therefore, He hath sent His angels to declare
the tidings of the conditions of repentance,
Which bringeth unto the power of the Redeemer,
unto the salvation of their souls.

“And now my sons, remember, remember that it is
upon the Rock of our Redeemer, which is Christ,
the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation;
That when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds,
yea, his shafts in the whirlwind,

Yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm
shall beat upon you,
It shall have no power over you to drag you down
to the gulf of misery and endless wo,
Because of the Rock upon which ye are built,
which is a sure foundation, a foundation
whereon if men buildeth, they cannot fall.”

Helaman 2:71-75

And it came to pass that the work of the Lord did prosper,
unto the baptizing and the uniting to the church of God
many souls, yea, even tens of thousands.

Thus we may see that the Lord is merciful
unto all who will, in the sincerity of their hearts,
call upon His holy name.

Yea, thus we see that the gate of heaven is open unto all,
even to those who will believe on the name
of Jesus Christ, which is the Son of God.

Yea, we see that whosoever will lay hold upon
the word of God, which is quick and powerful,
Which shall divide asunder all the cunning
and the snares and the wiles of the devil,
And lead the man of Christ in a strait and narrow
course across that everlasting gulf of misery
which is prepared to engulf the wicked,
And land their souls, yea, their immortal souls,
at the right hand of God in the kingdom of heaven,
To sit down with Abraham and Isaac and with Jacob
and with all our holy fathers to go no more out.

The Knowledge of Jesus Christ

And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse,
and a Branch shall grow out of his roots;

And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him,
the spirit of wisdom and understanding,
the spirit of counsel and might,
the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;

And shall make him of quick understanding
in the fear of the Lord;
And he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes,
neither reprove after the hearing of his ears;

But with righteousness shall he judge the poor,
and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth;
And he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth,
And with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.

And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins,
and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.

The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb,
and the leopard shall lie down with the kid;
and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together;
And a little child shall lead them.

And the cow and the bear shall feed;
Their young ones shall lie down together;
and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.

And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp,
and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice’ den.

They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain;
For the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord,
as the waters cover the sea.

And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse,
which shall stand for an ensign of the people;
To it shall the Gentiles seek;
And his rest shall be glorious.

And it shall come to pass in that day,
that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time
to recover the remnant of his people,
which shall be left, from Assyria,
and from Egypt, and from Pathros,
and from Cush, and from Elam,
and from Shinar, and from Hamath,
and from the islands of the sea.

And he shall set up an ensign for the nations,
And shall assemble the outcasts of Israel,
And gather together the dispersed of Judah
from the four corners of the earth.

Isaiah 11:1-12

Who hath believed our report?
and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?

For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant,
and as a root out of a dry ground;
He hath no form nor comeliness;
and when we shall see him,
there is no beauty that we should desire him.

He is despised and rejected of men;
a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief;
and we hid as it were our faces from him;
He was despised, and we esteemed him not.

Surely he hath borne our griefs,
and carried our sorrows;
Yet we did esteem him stricken,
smitten of God, and afflicted.

But he was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement of our peace was upon him;
And with his stripes we are healed.

All we like sheep have gone astray;
We have turned every one to his own way;
And the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

He was oppressed,
and he was afflicted,
yet he opened not his mouth;
He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter,
and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb,
so he openeth not his mouth.

He was taken from prison and from judgment;
And who shall declare his generation?
For he was cut off out of the land of the living;
For the transgression of my people was he stricken.

And he made his grave with the wicked,
and with the rich in his death;
because he had done no violence,
neither was any deceit in his mouth.

Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him;
He hath put him to grief;
When thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin,
he shall see his seed,
he shall prolong his days,
and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.

He shall see of the travail of his soul,
and shall be satisfied;

By his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many;
for he shall bear their iniquities.

Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great,
and he shall divide the spoil with the strong;
because he hath poured out his soul unto death;
and he was numbered with the transgressors;
And he bare the sin of many,
and made intercession for the transgressors.

Isaiah 53

For behold, that if the knowledge of the goodness of God
at this time hath awakened you to a sense of your
nothingness and your worthlessness and fallen state,

I say unto you, that if ye have come to a knowledge
of the goodness of God and His matchless power
and His wisdom and His patience and His longsuffering
toward the children of men,

And also the atonement which hath been prepared from
the foundation of the world, that thereby salvation
might come to him that should put his trust in the Lord,
And should be diligent in keeping His commandments
and continue in the faith, even unto the end of his life –
I mean the life of the mortal body –

I say that this is the man that receiveth salvation through
the atonement which was prepared from the foundation
of the world for all mankind,
Which ever was, ever since the fall of Adam, or which is
or which ever shall be, even unto the end of the world.

And there is none other salvation save this
which hath been spoken of;
Neither are there any conditions whereby man can be
saved, except the conditions which I have told you:

Believe in God;
Believe that He is and that He created all things,
both in heaven and in earth;

Believe that He hath all wisdom and all power,
both in heaven and in earth;

Believe that man doth not comprehend all the things
which the Lord can comprehend.

And again, believe that ye must repent of your sins
and forsake them,
And humble yourselves before God and ask in sincerity
of heart that He would forgive you;

And now if you believe all these things,
see that ye do them!

Mosiah 2:8-17

And I Am the same that leadeth men to all good.
He that will not believe My words
will not believe Me, that I Am;
And he that will not believe Me will
not believe the Father which sent Me;

For behold, I Am the Father;
I Am the light and the life and the truth of the world.

Come unto Me, O ye Gentiles!
And I will show unto you the greater things,
the knowledge which is hid up because of unbelief.

Come unto Me, O ye house of Israel!
And it shall be made manifest unto you how great things
the Father hath laid up for you from the
foundation of the world;
And it hath not come unto you because of unbelief.

Behold, when ye shall rend that veil of unbelief which
doth cause you to remain in your awful state of wicked –
ness and hardness of heart and blindness of mind,
Then shall the great and marvelous things which have been
hid up from the foundation of the world from you –

Yea, when ye shall call upon the Father in My name
with a broken heart and a contrite spirit,
Then shall ye know that the Father hath remembered
the covenant which He made unto your fathers,
O house of Israel –

And then shall My revelations which I have caused
to be written by My servant John be unfolded
in the eyes of all the people –

Remember, when ye see these things, ye shall know
that the time is at hand that they shall be
made manifest in very deed;
Therefore, when ye shall receive this record, ye may know
that the work of the Father has commenced
upon all the face of the earth.

Therefore, Repent! all ye ends of the earth,
and come unto Me!
and believe in My gospel!
and be baptized in My name!
For he that believeth and is baptized shall be saved,
But he that believeth not shall be damned;
And signs shall follow them that believe in My name.

And blessed is he that is found faithful
unto My name at the last day,
For they shall be lifted up to dwell in the kingdom
prepared for them from the foundation of the world;

And behold, it is I that hath spoken it. Amen.

The Reconciliation of Jesus Christ

For the love of Christ constraineth us;
Because we thus judge,
that if one died for all, then are all dead;

And he died for all,
that they which live should not henceforth
live unto themselves,
but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

Wherefore, henceforth live we no more after the flesh;
Yea, though we once lived after the flesh,
yet since we have known Christ,
now henceforth live we no more after the flesh.

Therefore if any man live in Christ,
he is a new creature;
Old things are passed away;
behold, all things are become new,

And receiveth all the things of God,
who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ,
and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

To wit, that God is in Christ,
reconciling the world unto himself,
not imputing their trespasses unto them;
And hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

Now then we are ambassadors for Christ,
as though God did beseech you by us;
we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.

For he hath made him to be sin for us,
who knew no sin;
that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

II Corinthians 5:14-21

Therefore, cheer up your hearts,
And remember that ye are free to act for yourselves –
to choose the way of everlasting death,
or the way of eternal life;

Wherefore my beloved brethren, reconcile yourselves to the
will of God and not to the will of the devil and the flesh.

And remember, that after ye are reconciled unto God,
That it is only in and through the grace of God
that ye are saved;

Wherefore, may God raise you from death
by the power of the resurrection,
And also from everlasting death
by the power of the atonement,
That ye may be received into the eternal kingdom of God,
That ye may praise Him through grace divine. Amen.

The Redemption of Jesus Christ

For this cause we also, since the day we heard it,
do not cease to pray for you,
and to desire that ye might be filled
with the knowledge of his will
in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;

That ye might walk worthy of the Lord
unto all pleasing,
being fruitful in every good work,
and increasing in the knowledge of God;

Strengthened with all might,
according to his glorious power,
unto all patience and long-suffering with joyfulness;

Giving thanks unto the Father,
which hath made us meet to be partakers of
the inheritance of the saints in light;

Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness,
and hath translated us
into the kingdom of his dear Son;

In whom we have redemption
through his blood,
even the forgiveness of sins;

Who is the image of the invisible God,
the firstborn of every creature.

For by him were all things created,
that are in heaven,
and that are in earth,
visible and invisible,
Whether they be thrones,
or dominions,
or principalities,
or powers;
All things were created by him,
and for him;

And he is before all things,
and by him all things consist.

And he is the head of the body,
the church;
Who is the beginning,
the firstborn from the dead;
that in all things he might have the pre-eminence.

For it pleased the Father
that in him should all fullness dwell;

And, having made peace through the blood of his cross,
by him to reconcile all things unto himself;
by him, I say, whether they be things in earth,
or things in heaven.

And you, that were sometime alienated
and enemies in your mind by wicked works,
yet now hath he reconciled,

in the body of his flesh through death,
to present you holy and unblamable and unreprovable
in his sight;

if ye continue in the faith grounded and settled,
and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel,
which ye have heard,
and which was preached to every creature
which is under heaven…

Colossians 1:9-23

Behold, I Am Jesus Christ, the Son of God;
I created the heavens and the earth and all things
that in them is;

I was with the Father from the beginning;
I Am in the Father and the Father in Me,
And in Me hath the Father glorified His name.

I came unto My own and My own received Me not,
And the scriptures concerning My coming are fulfilled;

And as many as have received Me, to them
have I given to become the sons of God,
And even so will I to as many as shall believe on My name.

For behold, by Me redemption cometh,
And in Me is the law of Moses fulfilled.

I Am the light and the life of the world;
I Am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.

And ye shall offer up unto Me no more
the shedding of blood;
Yea, your sacrifices and your burnt offerings
shall be done away,
For I will accept none of your sacrifices
and your burnt offerings;
And ye shall offer for a sacrifice unto Me
a broken heart and a contrite spirit;

Behold, I have come unto the world to bring redemption
unto the world-to save the world from sin;
Therefore, whoso repenteth and cometh unto Me
as a little child, him will I receive,
For of such is the kingdom of God.

Behold, for such I have laid down My life
and have taken it up again;
Therefore, repent and come unto Me,
ye ends of the earth, and be saved!

The Remembrance of Jesus Christ

And when the hour was come,
he [Jesus] sat down,
and the twelve apostles with him.

And he said unto them,
With desire I have desired to eat this passover
with you before I suffer;

For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof,
until it be fulfilled which is written
in the prophets concerning me.
Then I will partake with you, in the kingdom of God.

And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said,
Take this and divide among yourselves;

For I say unto you,
that I will not drink of the fruit of the vine,
until the kingdom of God shall come.

And he took bread, and gave thanks,
and brake, and gave unto them, saying,
This is my body which is given for you;
This do in remembrance of me.

Likewise also the cup, after supper, saying,
This cup is the new testament in my blood
which is shed for you.

Luke 22:14-20

And when the disciples had come with bread and wine,
He took of the bread and brake and blessed it;
And He gave unto the disciples and commanded
that they should eat;

And when they had eaten and were filled, He commanded
that they should give unto the multitude.

And when the multitude had eaten and were filled,
He saith unto the disciples:
Behold, there shall one be ordained among you,
And to him will I give power that he shall break bread
and bless it and give it unto the people of My church,
unto all they which shall believe and be baptized
in My name;

And this shall ye always observe to do, even
as I have done, even as I have broken bread
and blessed it and gave it unto you;

And this shall ye do in remembrance
of My body which I have shown unto you;

And it shall be a testimony unto the Father
that ye do always remember Me;

And if ye do always remember Me,
ye shall have My Spirit to be with you.

And it came to pass that when He had said these words,
He commanded His disciples that they should
take of the wine of the cup and drink of it,
And that they should also give unto the multitude
that they might drink of it.

And it came to pass that they did so
and did drink of it and were filled;
And they gave unto the multitude
and they did drink and they were filled.

And when the disciples had done this,
Jesus saith unto them:
Blessed are ye for this thing which ye have done,
for this is fulfilling My commandments,
And this doth witness unto the Father that ye are
willing to do that which I have commanded you.

The Sacrifice of Jesus Christ

Now of the things which we have spoken
this is the sum;
We have such a high priest,
who is set on the right hand
of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;

A minister of the sanctuary,
and of the true tabernacle,
which the Lord pitched,
and not man.

For every high priest
is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices;
Wherefore it is of necessity
that this man have somewhat also to offer.

Therefore while he was on the earth,
he offered for a sacrifice his own life
for the sins of the people.
Now every priest under the law,
must needs offer gifts,
or sacrifices,
according to the law.

Who serve unto the example
and shadow of heavenly things,
as Moses was admonished of God
when he was about to make the tabernacle;
For, See, saith he,
that thou make all things according to
the pattern showed to thee in the mount.

But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry,
by how much also he is the mediator
of a better covenant,
which was established upon better promises.

For if that first covenant had been faultless,
then should no place have been sought for the second.

For finding fault with them, he saith,
Behold, the days come, saith the Lord,
when I will make a new covenant
with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah;

Not according to the covenant
that I made with their fathers,
in the day when I took them by the hand
to lead them out of the land of Egypt;
because they continued not in my covenant,
and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.

For this is the covenant
that I will make with the house of Israel
after those days, saith the Lord;
I will put my laws into their mind,
and write them in their hearts;
and I will be to them a God,
and they shall be to me a people;

And they shall not teach every man his neighbor,
and every man his brother, saying,
Know the Lord;
for all shall know me,
from the least to the greatest.

For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness,
and their sins and their iniquities
will I remember no more.

In that he saith, A new covenant,
he hath made the first old.
Now that which decayeth and waxeth old
is ready to vanish away.

Hebrews 8:1-13

For the law having a shadow of good things to come,
and not the very image of the things,
can never with those sacrifices,
which they offered continually year by year
make the comers thereunto perfect.

For then would they not have ceased to be offered?
because that the worshipers once purged
should have had no more conscience of sins.

But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again
made of sins every year.

For it is not possible that the blood of bulls
and of goats should take away sins.

Wherefore, when he cometh into the world, he saith,
Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not,
but a body hast thou prepared me;

In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin
thou hast had no pleasure.

Then said I, Lo, I come
(in the volume of the book it is written of me)
to do thy will, O God.

Above when he said,
Sacrifice and offering
and burnt offerings
and offering for sin
thou wouldest not,
neither hadst pleasure therein;
which are offered by the law;

Then said he,
Lo, I come to do thy will, O God.
He taketh away the first,
that he may establish the second.

By which will we are sanctified
through the offering once of the body of Jesus Christ.

And every priest standeth daily
ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices,
which can never take away sins;

But this man,
after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever,
sat down on the right hand of God;

From henceforth to reign until his enemies
be made his footstool.

For by one offering he hath perfected forever
them that are sanctified.

Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us;
for after that he had said before,

This is the covenant that I will make with them
after those days, saith the Lord;
I will put my laws into their hearts,
and in their minds will I write them;

And their sins and iniquities
will I remember no more.

Now where remission of these is,
there is no more offering for sin.

Having therefore, brethren,
boldness to enter into the holiest
by the blood of Jesus,

By a new and living way,
which he hath consecrated for us,
through the veil,
that is to say, his flesh;

And having such an high priest over the house of God;

Let us draw near with a true heart
in full assurance of faith,
having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience,
and our bodies washed with pure water.

Let us hold fast
the profession of our faith without wavering;
for he is faithful that promised;

And let us consider one another
to provoke unto love and to good works;

Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together,
as the manner of some is;
But exhorting one another;
and so much the more,
as ye see the day approaching.

Hebrews 10:1-25

Wherefore, redemption cometh
in and through the Holy Messiah,
For He is full of grace and truth;

Behold, He offereth Himself a sacrifice for sin
to answer the ends of the law unto all those
which have a broken heart and a contrite spirit,
And unto none else can the ends of the law be answered.

“Wherefore, how great the importance to make these
things known unto the inhabitants of the earth,
That they may know that there is no flesh that can dwell
in the presence of God, save it be through the merits
and mercy and grace of the Holy Messiah,

Which layeth down His life, according to the flesh,
and taketh it again, by the power of the Spirit,

That He may bring to pass the resurrection of the dead,
being the first that should rise.”

II Nephi 1:71-75

I Am the light and the life of the world;
I Am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.

And ye shall offer up unto Me no more
the shedding of blood;
Yea, your sacrifices and your burnt offerings
shall be done away,
For I will accept none of your sacrifices
and your burnt offerings;
And ye shall offer for a sacrifice unto Me
a broken heart and a contrite spirit;

Behold, I have come unto the world to bring redemption
unto the world-to save the world from sin;
Therefore, whoso repenteth and cometh unto Me
as a little child, him will I receive,
For of such is the kingdom of God.

Behold, for such I have laid down My life
and have taken it up again;
Therefore, repent and come unto Me,
ye ends of the earth, and be saved!

The Salvation of Jesus Christ

And behold, there was a man at Jerusalem,
whose name was Simeon;
And the same man was just and devout,
waiting for the consolation of Israel;
and the Holy Ghost was upon him.

And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost,
that he should not see death
before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.

And he came by the Spirit into the temple;
and when the parents brought in the child,
even Jesus,
to do for him after the custom of the law,

Then took he him up in his arms,
and blessed God, and said,

Lord, now lettest thy servant depart in peace,
according to thy word;

For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,

Which thou hast prepared
before the face of all people;

A light to lighten the Gentiles,
and the glory of thy people Israel.

Luke 2:25-32

This is the stone
which was set at naught of you builders,
which is become the the head of the corner.

Neither is there salvation in any other;
for there is none other name under heaven
given among men,
whereby we must be saved.

Acts 4:11,12

And it shall come to pass that the time cometh when
the fullness of My gospel be preached unto them,
And they shall believe in Me, that I Am Jesus Christ,
the Son of God,
And shall pray unto the Father in My name.

Then shall their watchmen lift up their voice,
And with the voice together shall they sing;
For they shall see eye to eye.

Then will the Father gather them together again,
And give unto them Jerusalem for the land
of their inheritance.

Then shall they break forth into joy!
Sing together, ye waste places of Jerusalem!
For the Father hath comforted His people,
He hath redeemed Jerusalem.

The Father hath made bare His holy arm
in the eyes of all the nations;
And all the ends of the earth shall see
the salvation of the Father;
And the Father and I are one.

And then shall be brought to pass that which is written:
Awake! awake again, and put on thy strength, O Zion!
Put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city!
For henceforth there shall no more come into thee
the uncircumcised and the unclean.
Shake thyself from the dust!
Arise!
Sit down, O Jerusalem!
Loose thyself from the bands of thy neck,
O captive daughter of Zion!

For thus saith the Lord:
Ye have sold yourselves for naught;
And ye shall be redeemed without money.

Verily, verily I say unto you
that My people shall know My name –
Yea, in that day they shall know
that I Am He that doth speak.

And then shall they say,
How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of Him
that bringeth good tidings unto them,
That publisheth peace,
That bringeth good tidings unto them of good,
That publisheth salvation,
That saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!

The Stewardship of Jesus Christ

These words spake Jesus,
and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said,
Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son,
that they Son also may glorify thee;

As thou hast given him power over all flesh,
that he should give eternal life
to as many as thou hast given him.

And this is life eternal,
that they might know thee the only true God,
and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

I have glorified thee on the earth;
I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

And now, O Father, glorify thou me
with thine own self with the glory
which I had with thee before the world was.

I have manifested thy name unto the men
which thou gavest me out of the world;
Thine they were, and thou gavest them me;
and they have kept thy word.

Now they have known that all things
whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee.

For I have given unto them the words
which thou gavest me;
and they have received them,
and have known surely that I came out from thee,
and they have believed that thou didst send me.

I pray for them;
I pray not for the world,
but for them which thou hast given me;
for they are thine.

And all mine are thine,
and thine are mine;
and I am glorified in them.

And now I am no more in the world,
but these are in the world,
and I come to thee.
Holy Father,
keep through thine own name
those whom thou hast given me,
that they may be one, as we are.

While I was with them in the world,
I kept them in thy name;
those that thou gavest me I have kept,
and none of them is lost,
but the son of perdition;
that the Scripture might be fulfilled.

And now come I to thee;
and these things I speak in the world,
that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.

I have given them thy word;
and the world hath hated them,
because they are not of the world,
even as I am not of the world.

I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world,
but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.

They are not of the world,
even as I am not of the world.

Sanctify them through thy truth;
thy word is truth.

As thou hast sent me into the world,
even so have I also sent them into the world.

And for their sakes I sanctify myself,
that they also might be sanctified through the truth.

Neither pray I for these alone,
but for them also which shall believe
on me through their word;

That they all may be one;
as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee,
that they also may be one in us;
that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

And the glory which thou gavest me
I have given them;
that they may be one, even as we are one;

I in them, and thou in me,
that they may be made perfect in one;
and that the world may know that thou hast sent me,
and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me,
be with me where I am;
that they may behold my glory,
which thou hast given me;
For thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.

O righteous Father,
the world hath not known thee;
but I have known that thou hast sent me.

And I have declared unto them thy name,
and will declare it;
that the love wherewith thou hast loved me
may be in them, and I in them.

John 17:1-26

And also, ye yourselves will succor those
that stand in need of your succor;
Ye will administer of your substance unto him
that standeth in need;

And ye will not suffer that the beggar putteth up his
petition to you in vain and turn him out to perish.

Perhaps thou shalt say, “The man hath brought upon
himself his misery, therefore I will stay my hand
and will not give unto him of my food, nor impart
unto him of my substance that he may not suffer,
for his punishments are just”;

But I say unto you O man, whosoever doeth this,
the same hath great cause to repent;
And except he repenteth of that which he hath done,
he perisheth forever and hath no interest
in the kingdom of God.

For behold, are we not all beggars?
Do we not all depend upon the same Being, even God,
for all the substance which we have?
For both food and raiment and for gold and for silver
and for all the riches which we have of every kind?

And behold, even at this time ye have been calling on
His name and begging for a remission of your sins;

And hath He suffered that ye have begged in vain?

Nay, He hath poured out His Spirit upon you,
And hath caused that your hearts should be filled with joy,
And hath caused that your mouths should be stopped,
that ye could not find utterance, so exceeding great
was your joy.

And now, if God who hath created you, on whom you
are dependent for your lives and for all that ye have
and are, doth grant unto you whatsoever ye ask
that is right, in faith believing that ye shall receive,
O then, how had ye ought to impart of the substance
that ye have one to another!

And if ye judge the man who putteth up his petition
to you for your substance, that he perish not,
and condemn him,
How much more just will be your condemnation for
withholding your substance which doth not belong
to you, but to God to whom also your life belongeth?

And yet ye put up no petition, or repenteth not
of the thing which thou hast done;

I say unto you, wo be unto that man!
for his substance shall perish with him.

And now, I say these things unto those which are rich
as pertaining to the things of this world.

And again I say unto the poor, ye that have not and yet
hath sufficient that ye remain from day to day –
I mean all you that deny the beggar because ye have not –
I would that ye say in your hearts that “I give not because
I have not, but if I had I would give.”

And now, if ye say this in your hearts, ye remain guiltless,
Otherwise, ye are condemned and your condemnation
is just, for ye covet that which ye have not received.

And now for the sake of these things which I have spoken
unto you-that is, for the sake of retaining a remission
of your sins from day to day, that ye may walk guiltless
before God –

I would that ye should impart of your substance
to the poor,
Every man according to that which he hath, such as –
feeding the hungry,
clothing the naked,
visiting the sick and administering to their relief,
both spiritually and temporally,
according to their wants.

And see that all these things are done in wisdom
and order, for it is not requisite that a man
should run faster than what he hath strength.

And again, it is expedient that he should be diligent,
that thereby he might win the prize;
Therefore, all things must be done in order.

Mosiah 2:28-45

And then, at the day, before the Son of Man comes,
the kingdom of heaven shall be likened unto ten virgins,
who took their lamps,
and went forth to meet the bridegroom.

And five of them were wise,
and five of them were foolish.

They that were foolish took their lamps
and took no oil with them;
But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

While the bridegroom tarried
they all slumbered and slept.

And at midnight there was a cry made,
Behold, the bridegroom cometh;
go ye out to meet him.

Then all those virgins arose,
and trimmed their lamps.

And the foolish said unto the wise,
Give us of your oil;
for our lamps are gone out.

But the wise answered, saying,
Lest there be not enough for us and you,
go ye rather to them that sell,
and buy for yourselves.

And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came;
And they that were ready went in with him to the marriage;
and the door was shut.

Afterward came also the other virgins, saying,
Lord, Lord, open unto us.

But he answered and said,
Verily I say unto you,
Ye know me not.

Watch therefore;
For ye know neither the day
nor the hour wherein the Son of Man cometh.

Now I will liken these things unto a parable.

For it is like as a man traveling into a far country,
who called his own servants,
and delivered unto them his goods.

And unto one he gave five talents,
to another two,
and to another one;
to every man according to his several ability;
And straightway went on his journey.

Then he that had received the five talents,
went and traded with the same;
and gained other five talents.

And likewise he who received two talents,
he also gained other two.

But he who had received one,
went and digged in the earth
and hid his lord’s money.

After a long time the lord of those servants cometh,
and reckoneth with them.

And so he that had received the five talents came,
and brought other five talents, saying,
Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents;
behold, I have gained besides them five talents more.

His lord said unto him,
Well done, good and faithful servant;
thou hast been faithful over a few things,
I will make thee ruler over many things;
enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

He also that had received two talents came and said,
Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents;
behold, I have gained two talents besides them.

His lord said unto him,
Well done, good and faithful servant;
thou hast been faithful over a few things,
I will make thee ruler over many things;
enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

Then he who had received the one talent came, and said,
Lord, I knew thee that thou art a hard man,
reaping where thou hast not sown,
and gathering where thou hast not scattered.

And I was afraid,
and went and hid thy talent in the earth;
and lo, here is thy talent;
take it from me as thou hast from thine other servants,
for it is thine.

His lord answered and said unto him,
O wicked and slothful servant,
thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not,
and gather where I have not scattered.

Having known this, therefore,
thou oughtest to have put my money to the exchangers,
and at my coming
I should have received mine own with usury.

I will take, therefore, the talent from you,
and give it unto him who hath ten talents.

For unto every one who hath obtained other talents,
shall be given, and he shall have an abundance.

But from him that hath not obtained other talents,
shall be taken away even that which he hath received.

And his lord shall say unto his servants,
Cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness;
there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

When the Son of Man shall come in his glory,
and all the holy angels with him,
then he shall sit upon the throne of his glory;

And before him shall be gathered all nations;
and he shall separate them one from another,
as a shepherd divideth sheep from the goats;
the sheep on his right hand,
but the goats on his left.

And he shall sit upon his throne,
and the twelve apostles with him.

Then shall the king say unto them on his right hand,
Come, ye blessed of my Father,
inherit the kingdom prepared for you
from the foundation of the world.

For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat;
I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink;
I was a stranger, and ye took me in;
Naked, and ye clothed me;

I was sick, and ye visited me;
I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

Then shall the righteous answer him, saying,
Lord, when saw we thee an hungered, and fed thee;
Or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in;
Or naked, and clothed thee?

Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison,
and came unto thee?

And the king shall answer and say unto them,
Verily I say unto you,
inasmuch as ye have done it unto
one of the least of these my brethren,
ye have done it unto me.

Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand,
Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire,
prepared for the devil and his angels.

For I was an hungered, and ye gave me no meat;
I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink;

I was a stranger, and ye took me not in;
Naked, and ye clothed me not;
Sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

Then shall they also answer him, saying,
Lord, when saw we thee
an hungered,
or athirst,
or a stranger,
or naked,
or sick,
or in prison,
and did not minister unto thee?

Then shall he answer them, saying,
Verily I say unto you,
Inasmuch as ye did it not to one
of the least of these my brethren,
ye did it not unto me.

And these shall go away into everlasting punishment;
but the righteous into life eternal.

The Sufficiency of Jesus Christ

As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord,
so walk ye in him;

Rooted and built up in him,
and established in the faith,
as ye have been taught,
abounding therein with thanksgiving.

Beware lest any man spoil you
through philosophy and vain deceit,
after the tradition of men,
after the rudiments of the world,
and not after Christ.

For in him dwelleth all the fullness
of the Godhead bodily.

And ye are complete in him,
which is the head of all principality and power;

In whom also ye are circumcised
with the circumcision made without hands,
in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh
by the circumcision of Christ;

Buried with him in baptism,
wherein also ye are risen with him
through the faith of the operation of God,
who hath raised him from the dead.

And you, being dead in your sins
and the uncircumcision of your flesh,
hath he quickened together with him,
having forgiven you all trespasses;

Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances
that was against us,
which was contrary to us,
and took it out of the way,
nailing it to his cross;

And having spoiled principalities and powers,
he made a show of them openly,
triumphing over them in it.

Colossians 2:6-15

Fools mock, but they shall mourn;
And My grace is sufficient for the meek that they
shall take no advantage of your weakness;
And if men come unto Me, I will show unto them
their weakness;

I give unto men weakness that they may be humble,
And My grace is sufficient for all men
that humble themselves before Me;
For if they humble themselves before Me and have faith
in Me, then will I make weak things
become strong unto them.

Behold, I will show unto the Gentiles their weakness,
And I will show unto them that faith, hope and charity
bringeth unto Me the fountain of all righteousness.

Ether 5:27b-29

Yea, come unto Christ and be perfected in Him
and deny yourselves of all ungodliness,
And if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness and
love God with all your might, mind and strength,
Then is His grace sufficient for you,
that by His grace ye may be perfect in Christ;

The Supremacy of Jesus Christ

God, who at sundry times and in divers manners
spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,

Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son,
whom he hath appointed heir of all things,
by whom also he made the worlds;

Who being the brightness of his glory,
and the express image of his person,
and upholding all things by the word of his power,
when he had by himself purged our sins,
sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

Being made so much better than the angels,
as he hath by inheritance obtained
a more excellent name than they.

Hebrews 1:1-4

Let this mind be in you,
which was also in Christ Jesus;

Who, being in the form of God,
thought it not robbery to be equal with God;

But made himself of no reputation,
and took upon him the form of a servant,
and was made in the likeness of men;

And being found in fashion as a man,
he humbled himself,
and became obedient unto death,
even the death of the cross.

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him,
and given him a name which is above every name;

That at the name of Jesus
every knee should bow,
of things in heaven,
and things in earth,
and things under the earth;

And that every tongue should confess
that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

Philippians 2:5-11

I the Lord have called thee in righteousness,
and will hold thine hand,
and will keep thee,
and give thee for a covenant of the people,
for a light of the Gentiles;

To open the blind eyes,
To bring out the prisoners from the prison,
and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.

I am the Lord; that is my name;
And my glory will I not give to another,
neither my praise to graven images.

Behold, the former things are come to pass,
And new things do I declare;
before they spring forth I tell you of them.

Isaiah 42:6-9

Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord,
and my servant whom I have chosen;
that ye may know and believe me,
and understand that I am he;
Before me there was no God formed,
neither shall there be after me.

I, even I, am the Lord;
and beside me there is no savior.

I have declared, and have saved,
and I have showed,
when there was no strange god among you;
Therefore ye are my witnesses,
saith the Lord, that I am God.

Yea, before the day was I am he;
and there is none that can deliver out of my hand;
I will work, and who shall let it?

Thus saith the Lord, your Redeemer,
the Holy One of Israel;
For your sake I have sent to Babylon,
and have brought down all their nobles,
and the Chaldeans, whose cry is in the ships.

I am the Lord, your Holy One,
the Creator of Israel,
your King.

Thus saith the Lord,
which maketh a way in the sea,
and a path in the mighty waters;

Which bringeth forth the chariot and horse,
the army and the power;
they shall lie down together,
they shall not rise;
they are extinct,
they are quenched as tow.

Remember ye not the former things,
neither consider the things of old.

Behold, I will do a new thing;
Now it shall spring forth;
Shall ye not know it?
I will even make a way in the wilderness,
and rivers in the desert.

The beast of the field shall honor me,
the dragons and the owls;
because I give waters in the wilderness,
and rivers in the desert,
to give drink to my people, my chosen.

This people have I formed for myself;
they shall show forth my praise.

Isaiah 43:10-21

And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse;
and he that sat upon him is called Faithful and True,
and in righteousness he doth judge and make war;

His eyes as a flame of fire;
and he had on his head many crowns;
and a name written, that no man knew, but himself.

And he is clothed with a vesture dipped in blood;
and his name is called The Word of God.

And the armies which were in heaven
followed him upon white horses,
clothed in fine linen,
white and clean.

And out of his mouth proceedeth the word of God,
and with it he will smite the nations;
and he will rule them with the word of his mouth;
And he treadeth the winepress
in the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

And he hath on a vesture,
and on his thigh a name written,
KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

Revelation 19:11-16

‘For behold, the time cometh and is not far distant,
that with power the Lord Omnipotent who reigneth,
which was and is from all eternity to all eternity,
Shall come down from heaven among the children of men,
And shall dwell in a tabernacle of clay.

Mosiah 1:97

And moreover, I say unto you that there shall be no other
name given, nor no other way nor means whereby
salvation can come unto the children of men –
Only in and through the name of Christ,
the Lord Omnipotent.

For behold, He judgeth and His judgment is just,
And the infant perisheth not that dieth in his infancy;

But men drinketh damnation to their own souls, except
they humble themselves and become as little children,
And believeth that salvation was and is and is to come,
in and through the atoning blood of Christ,
the Lord Omnipotent.

Mosiah 1:116-118

Behold how many thousands of our brethren
hath He loosed from the pains of hell
and they are brought to sing redeeming love!
And this because of the power of His word which is in us,
Therefore, have we not great reason to rejoice?

Yea, we have reason to praise Him forever!
For He is the Most High God and has loosed our brethren
from the chains of hell;

Yea, they were encircled about with everlasting darkness
and destruction,
But behold, He hath brought them into His everlasting
light, yea, into everlasting salvation,
And they are encircled about with the matchless bounty
of His love.

Yea, and we have been instruments in His hands
of doing this great and marvelous work,
Therefore, let us glory – yea, we will glory in the Lord!
Yea, we will rejoice, for our joy is full!
Yea, we will praise our God forever!

Behold, who can glory too much in the Lord?
Yea, who can say too much of His great power
and of His mercy and of His longsuffering
toward the children of men?
Behold I say unto you, I cannot say
the smallest part which I feel.

Who could have supposed that our God would have
been so merciful as to have snatched us
from our awful sinful and polluted state?

Behold, we went forth, even in wrath, with mighty
threatenings, to destroy His church;
O then, why did He not consign us
to an awful destruction?
Yea, why did He not let the sword of His justice
fall upon us and doom us to eternal despair?

O my soul almost, as it were, fleeth at the thought!

Behold, He did not exercise His justice upon us,
But in His great mercy hath brought us over
that everlasting gulf of death and misery,
even to the salvation of our souls.

The Testimony of Jesus Christ

And he saith unto me, Write,
Blessed are thy which are called
unto the marriage supper of the Lamb.
And he saith unto me,
These are the true sayings of God.

And I fell at his feet to worship him.
And he said unto me,
See that thou do it not;
I am thy fellow servant,
and of thy brethren
that have the testimony of Jesus;
worship God;
For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

Revelation 19:9,10

And Alma went and began to declare the word of God
unto the church which was established
in the Valley of Gideon,
According to the revelation of the truth of the word
which had been spoken by his fathers,

And according to the spirit of prophecy which was in him,
According to the testimony of Jesus Christ, the Son of God,
which should come for to redeem His people
from their sins,
And the holy order by which he was called.

And thus it is written. Amen.

have written nor prophesied, save they have
spoken concerning this Christ;

The Vengeance of Jesus Christ

Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves,
but rather give place unto wrath;
for it is written,
Vengeance is mine;
I will repay, saith the Lord.

Romans 12:19

For what if some did not believe?
shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?

God forbid; yea, let God be true,
but every man a liar; as it is written,
That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings,
and mightest overcome when thou art judged.

But if we remain in our unrighteousness and
commend the righteousness of God,
how dare we say, God is unrighteous who taketh vengeance?
(I speak as a man who fears God,)

God forbid; for then how shall God judge the world?

Romans 3:3-6

For we know him that hath said,
Vengeance belongeth unto me,
I will recompense, saith the Lord.
And again, The Lord shall judge his people.
It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

The Vision of Jesus Christ

Therefore, I, John, the faithful witness,
bear record of the things which were delivered me of the angel,
and from Jesus Christ the first begotten of the dead,
and the Prince of the kings of the earth.

And unto him who loved us, be glory;
who washed us from our sins in his own blood,
and hath made us kings and priests unto God, his Father.
To him be glory and dominion, forever and ever. Amen.

For behold, he cometh in the clouds
with ten thousands of his saints in the kingdom,
clothed with the glory of his Father.
And every eye shall see him;
and they who pierced him,
and all kindreds of the earth
shall wail because of him.
Even so, Amen.

For he saith, I am Alpha and Omega,
the beginning and the ending, the Lord,
who is, and who was, and who is to come,
the Almighty.

I John, who also am your brother,
and companion in tribulation,
and in the kingdom
and patience of Jesus Christ,
was in the isle that is called Patmos,
for the word of God,
and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.

I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day,
and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,

Saying, I am Alpha and Omega,
the first and the last; and,
What thou seest, write in a book,
and send it unto the seven churches
which are in Asia;
unto Ephesus, and
unto Smyrna, and
unto Pergamos, and
unto Thyatira, and
unto Sardis, and
unto Philadelphia, and
unto Laodicea.

And I turned to see from whence the voice came that spake to me;
and being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;

And in the midst of the seven candlesticks
one like unto the Son of man,
clothed with a garment down to the foot,
and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.

His head and his hairs were white like wool,
as white as snow;
and his eyes were as a flame of fire;

And his feet like unto fine brass,
as if they burned in a furnace;
and his voice as the sound of many waters.

And he had in his right hand seven stars;
and out of his mouth went a sharp two-edged sword;
and his countenance was as the sun shining in his strength.

And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead.
And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me,
Fear not; I am the first and the last;

I am he that liveth, and was dead;
and behold, I am alive forevermore, Amen;
and have the keys of hell and of death.

Write the things which thou hast seen,
and the things which are,
and the things which shall be hereafter.

The Way of Jesus Christ

The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness,
Prepare ye the way of the Lord,
Make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

Every valley shall be exalted,
and every mountain and hill shall be made low;
and the crooked shall be made straight,
and the rough places plain;

And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed,
and all flesh shall see it together;
for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.

Isaiah 4:3-5

Let not your heart be troubled;
ye believe in God, believe also in me.

In my Father’s house are many mansions;
if it were not so, I would have told you.
I go to prepare a place for you.

And when I go, I will prepare a place for you,
and come again and receive you unto myself;
that where I am, ye may be also.
And whither I go ye know;
and the way ye know.

Thomas saith unto him,
Lord, we know not whither thou goest;
and how can we know the way?

Jesus saith unto him,
I am the way, the truth, and the life:
no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

If ye had known me,
ye should have known my Father also;
and from henceforth ye know him,
and have seen him.

John 14:1-7

Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth
take heed lest he fall.

There hath no temptation taken you
but such as is common to man;
but God is faithful,
who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able;
but will with the temptation also make a way to escape,
that ye may be able to bear it.

Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.

I Corinthians 10:12-14

And it came to pass that I, Nephi, said unto my father:
I will go and do the things which the Lord
hath commanded,

For I know that the Lord giveth no commandments
unto the children of men save He shall prepare a way
for them, that they may accomplish the thing
which He commandeth them.

I Nephi 1:65

But the Lord knoweth all things from the beginning;
Wherefore, He prepareth a way to accomplish all His works
among the children of men,
For behold, He hath all power unto the fulfilling of all His words;

I Nephi 2:100-101

And it came to pass that after I, Nephi –
Having heard all the words of my father
concerning the things which he saw in a vision,

And also the things which he spake by the power of the Holy Ghost,
which power he received by faith on the Son of God,

And the Son of God was the Messiah which should come;

And it came to pass that I, Nephi, was desirous also
that I might see and hear and know of these things
by the power of the Holy Ghost,
which is the gift of God unto all those who diligently seek Him,
as well in times of old as in the time
that He should manifest Himself unto the children of men,

For He is the same yesterday, today and forever,

And the way is prepared for all men
from the foundation of the world,
if it so be that they repent and come unto Him.

For he that diligently seeketh shall find,

And the mysteries of God shall be unfolded to them
by the power of the Holy Ghost,
as well in this time as in times of old,

And as well in times of old as in times to come;

Wherefore, the course of the Lord is one eternal round.

Therefore, remember O man,
for all thy doings thou shalt be brought into judgment;

Wherefore, if ye have sought to do wickedly in the days of your probation,
then ye are found unclean before the judgment seat of God,
And no unclean thing can dwell with God,
wherefore, ye must be cast off forever.

The Wisdom of Jesus Christ

And the child grew,
and waxed strong in spirit,
being filled with wisdom,
and the grace of God was upon him.

Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year
at the feast of the passover.

And when he was twelve years old,
they went up to Jerusalem,
after the custom,
to the feast.

And when they had fulfilled the days,
as they returned,
the child Jesus tarried behind, in Jerusalem;
and Joseph and his mother
knew not that he tarried;

But they, supposing him to have been
in the company,
went a day’s journey;
and they sought him among his kindred
and acquaintance,

And when they found him not,
they turned back again to Jerusalem,
seeking him.

And it came to pass,
after three days they found him in the temple,
sitting in the midst of the doctors,
and they were hearing him,
and asking him questions.

And all who heard him were astonished
at his understanding, and answers.

And when his parents saw him,
they were amazed;
And his mother said unto him,
Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us?
Behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.

And he said unto them,
Why is it that ye sought me?
Knew ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?

And they understood not the saying
which he spake unto them.

51 And he went down with them,
and came to Nazareth,
and was subject unto them.
And his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.

And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature,
and in favor with God and man.

Luke 2:40-52

And they asked him, saying,
Master, we know that thou sayest
and teachest rightly;
neither regardest thou the person of any,
but teachest the way of God truly.

Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Caesar,
or no?

But he perceived their craftiness,
and said unto them,
Why tempt ye me?

Show me a penny.
Whose image and superscription hath it?
They answered, and said, Caesar’s.

And he said unto them,
Render therefore unto Caesar,
the things which be Caesar’s;
and unto God, the things which be God’s.

And they could not take hold of his words
before the people,
and they marveled at his answer, and held their peace.

Luke 20:21-26

Behold, great and marvelous
are the works of the Lord!

How unsearchable are the depths of the mysteries of Him!
And it is impossible that man should find out all His ways;

And no man knoweth of His ways,
save it be revealed unto him;
Wherefore brethren, despise not the revelations of God.

For behold, by the power of His word man came
upon the face of the earth,
Which earth was created by the power of His word;

Wherefore, if God being able to speak and the world was,
and to speak and man was created,
O then, why not able to command the earth, or the
workmanship of His hands upon the face of it,
according to His will and pleasure?

Wherefore brethren, seek not to counsel the Lord,
but to take counsel from His hand;

For behold, ye yourselves know that He counseleth
in wisdom and in justice and in great mercy
over all His works;

Wherefore beloved brethren, be reconciled unto Him
through the atonement of Christ,
His Only Begotten Son,

That ye may obtain a resurrection, according to the power
of the resurrection which is in Christ,
And be presented as the firstfruits of Christ unto God,
Having faith and obtained a good hope of glory in Him
before He manifesteth Himself in the flesh.

Jacob 3:9-17

And blessed are they that hearken unto My precepts
and lend an ear unto My counsel,
For they shall learn wisdom;

For unto him that receiveth, I will give more;
And them that shall say, ‘We have enough,’ from them
shall be taken away even that which they have.

The Words of Jesus Christ

It is the Spirit that quickeneth;
the flesh profiteth nothing;
The words that I speak unto you,
they are spirit,
and they are life.

John 6:63

Wherefore, I said unto you:
Feast upon the words of Christ,
For behold, the words of Christ will tell you
all things what ye should do.

Wherefore, now after that I have spoken these words,
If ye cannot understand them, it will be
because ye ask not, neither do ye knock;
Wherefore, ye are not brought into the light,
but must perish in the dark.

For behold, again I say unto you that if ye will enter in
by the way and receive the Holy Ghost,
it will show unto you all things what ye should do.

II Nephi 14:4-6

And now I give unto you a commandment
to beware concerning yourselves,
to give diligent heed to the words of eternal life;
For you shall live by every word
that proceedeth forth from the mouth of God.

For the word of the Lord is truth,
and whatsoever is truth is light,
and whatsoever is light is Spirit,
even the Spirit of Jesus Christ;

And the Spirit giveth light to every man
that cometh into the world;
And the Spirit enlighteneth every man through the world,
that hearkeneth to the voice of the Spirit;

And everyone that hearkeneth to the voice of the Spirit,
cometh unto God, even the Father…

D&C 83:7a-d

Therefore, whosoever heareth these sayings of mine
and doeth them,
I will liken him unto a wise man,
who built his house upon a rock,
and the rains descended,
and the floods came,
and the winds blew,
and beat upon that house,
and it fell not;
For it was founded upon a rock.

And every one that heareth these sayings of mine,
and doeth them not,
Shall be likened unto a foolish man,
who built his house upon the sand;
and the rains descended,
and the floods came,
and the winds blew,
and beat upon that house,
and it fell;
and great was the fall of it.

And it came to pass when Jesus had
ended these sayings with his disciples,
the people were astonished at his doctrine;

For he taught them as one having authority from God,
and not as having authority from the Scribes.

The Work of Jesus Christ

And he said unto them,
Why is it that ye sought me?
Knew ye not
that I must be about my Father’s business?

Luke 2:49

Then answered Jesus and said unto them,
Verily, Verily, I say unto you,
The Son can do nothing of himself,
but what he seeth the Father do;
for what things soever he doeth,
these also doeth the Son likewise.

For the Father loveth the Son,
and showeth him all things that himself doeth;
and he will show him greater works than these,
that ye may marvel.

For as the Father raiseth up the dead and quickeneth them;
even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.

For the Father judgeth no man;
but hath committed all judgment unto the Son;

That all should honor the Son,
even as they honor the Father.
He who honoreth not the Son,
honoreth not the Father who hath sent him.

Verily, verily, I say unto you,
He who heareth my word,
and believeth on him who sent me,
hath everlasting life,
and shall not come into condemnation;
but is passed from death into life.

Verily, verily, I say unto you,
The hour is coming, and now is,
when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God;
and they who hear shall live.

For as the Father hath life in himself,
so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;

And hath given him authority to execute judgment also,
because he is the Son of Man.

Marvel not at this;
for the hour is coming,
in the which all who are in their graves
shall hear his voice.

And shall come forth;
They who have done good,
in the resurrection of the just;
And they who have done evil,
in the resurrection of the unjust.

And shall all be judged of the Son of Man.
For as I hear, I judge,
and my judgment is just;

For I can of mine own self do nothing;
because I seek not mine own will,
but the will of the Father who hath sent me.

Therefore if I bear witness of myself,
yet my witness is true.

For I am not alone,
there is another who beareth witness of me,
and I know that the testimony
which he giveth of me is true.

Ye sent unto John,
and he bare witness also unto the truth.

And he received not his testimony of man,
but of God,
And ye yourselves say that he is a prophet,
Therefore ye ought to receive his testimony.
These things I say that ye might be saved.

He was a burning and a shining light;
and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.

But I have a greater witness than the testimony of John;
for the works which the Father hath given me to finish,
The same works that I do,
bear witness of me,
that the Father hath sent me.

John 5:19-37

Then said they unto him,
What shall we do,
that we might work the works of God?

Jesus answered and said unto them,
This is the work of God,
that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

John 6:28,29

And as Jesus passed by,
he saw a man which was blind from his birth.

And his disciples asked him saying,
Master, who did sin,
this man, or his parents,
that he was born blind?

Jesus answered,
Neither hath this man sinned,
nor his parents;
but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.

I must work the works of him that sent me,
while I am with you;
The time cometh when I shall have finished my work,
then I go unto the Father.

As long as I am in the world,
I am the light of the world.

John 9:1-5

Believest thou not that I am in the Father,
and the Father in me?
The words that I speak unto you
I speak not of myself;
But the Father that dwelleth in me,
he doeth the works.

Believe me that I am in the Father,
and the Father in me;
Or else believe me for the very works’ sake.

Verily, verily, I say unto you,
He that believeth on me,
the works that I do shall he do also;
and greater works than these shall he do;
because I go unto my Father.

John 14:10-12

These words spake Jesus,
and lifted up his eyes to heaven,
and said,
Father, the hour is come;
glorify thy Son,
that they Son also may glorify thee;

As thou hast given him power over all flesh,
that he should give eternal life
to as many as thou hast given him.

And this is life eternal,
that they might know thee
the only true God,
and Jesus Christ,
whom thou hast sent.

I have glorified thee on the earth;
I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

And now, O Father,
glorify thou me with thine own self
with the glory
which I had with thee before the world was.

John 17:1-5

And the Lord God spake unto Moses, saying,
The heavens, they are many
and they can not be numbered unto man,
But they are numbered unto me,
for they are mine;
And as one earth shall pass away,
and the heavens thereof,
even so shall another come;

And there is no end to my works,
neither to my words;
For this is my work and my glory,
to bring to pass the immortality,
and eternal life of man.

D&C 22:23a,b

Great and marvelous are Thy works,
O Lord God Almighty!
Thy throne is high in the heavens!
And Thy power and goodness and mercy are over
all the inhabitants of the earth;
And because Thou art merciful, Thou wilt not suffer those
who come unto Thee, that they shall perish!

I Nephi 1:13b

And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God,
and the song of the Lamb, saying,
Great and marvelous are thy works, Lord God Almighty;
just and true are thy ways,
thou King of saints.

Who shall not fear thee, O Lord,
and glorify they name?
For thou only art holy;
For all nations shall come and worship before thee;
For thy judgments are made manifest.

Revelation 15:3,4

Now ye may suppose that this is foolishness in me;
But behold, I say unto you that by small and simple things
are great things brought to pass,
And small means, in many instances,
doth confound the wise;

And the Lord God doth work by means to bring about
His great and eternal purposes,
And by very small means the Lord doth confound the wise
and bringeth about the salvation of many souls.

Alma 17:35,36

But Jesus said unto them,
A prophet is not without honor,
save in his own country,
and among his own kin,
and in his own house.

And he could do no mighty work there,
save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk
and they were healed.

And he marveled because of their unbelief.
And he went round about the villages,
teaching.

Jacob 3:13

with so great a cloud of witnesses,

Let us lay aside every weight,
and the sin which doth so easily beset us,
and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith;

Who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross,
despising the shame,
and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

For consider him
that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself,
lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

Which God hath before ordained
